Question anti-sway bar

Looked back as far as I could tolerate and didn't see anything...

Has anyone installed a rear anti-sway bar on their S'crew? If so, what brand & where'd ya get it?

Lightbulb Anti_Sway ? Bars

I don't know about Anti-sway bars. I believe you are asking about either (a) Stabilizer bars that control trailer swaying or (b) sway bars for your truck's suspension. I have aftermarket front and rear sway bars on my 4X2 2001 SC and they are my best mod. Handling is 1000% better in curves and on highways. I bought the Hellwig sway bars from RoughCountry.com via intenet and had them in a matter of days. The Hellwig sway bar is definitely stouter than the OEM bar as each bar weighs in at approximately 30 lbs and is 1 1/8 in diameter. I had them professionally installed at Sandy's 4X4 Performance Shop in Augusta, GA because of the proximity of ABS brake lines around the "pumpkin" on the rear end. You must experience the flat turns with all your tires hugging the road to appreciate the difference sway bars make. I feel that I am in control of my truck during quick maneuvering now and can choose other options instead of just riding the situation out.

Thumbs up Thanks.

"B" is what I was asking about. The correct technical name is anti-sway bar, but perhaps I should have used the street terminoligy of just sway-bar.

Do you happen to know the part # for the rear bar from Hellwig?

Cool

I should have included the kit numbers. The REAR KIT # is 7621 and the FRONT KIT# is 7646. You can call ZACK at 1-800-222-7023 at Rough Country or HELLWIG.net to verify for your truck.

Arrow

Checked out roughcountry.com's prices and they are a little high. Summit Racing (www.summitracing.com) will deliver the bar to your door for ~$137.

I installed the Hellwig rear anti-sway bar on my F350 & I would install the one on the Screw too. So, I have no idea about labor charges. If you have a decent socket set, you can easily install the kit yourself in an hour or two.

For those who do have the sway-bar on there SCREW (rear on the 4x4), do you like it, does it improve the ride/stiffness of the truck? Is it anoying or make the truck to stiff?

I thought about this but don't know if it would be worth it as I do offroad but only 1-2 times every few months. Would it be worth it for the highway driving as I don't tow (or at least not yet)

I like the difference; made the ride smooth through the corners towing and carrying. I've had 2000 pounds of horse manure and the same with gravel. It rode great! Level all the way. It is not quite a sports car, but close.

I added the Rancho 9000's in December; what a superb combination!

An anti-sway bar should not impact the ride stiffness at all. They are designed to prevent (lessen) body-roll while cornering and reduce overall "sway" from cross-winds, towing, or heavy loads.

Since you run mostly highway miles, you'll appreciate the improvement in handling that a rear anti-sway bar gives. For off-roading, "swaybars" are a bad thing... that's why they make quick-disconnect kits for the Jeep guys.

I have read that some Screw owners have heard popping and squeaking from the Hewlig sway bar. Any of you have these issues?

After installing the Hellwig on my F350, it popped & creaked. I drove it a couple of weeks then re-tightened everything. It no longer makes any noises.

so on a 4x4, you only install one bar, correct? in the rear? any idea what it would cost to have one of these installed? For $140 it seems a good value. My friend got one on his Tahoe and loved it.

thanks,
Wes

You can have both front & rear "swaybars" on either 4x4 or 4x2. Not sure about the 4x4s, but my '02 4x2 already has a front anti-sway bar. Just can't figure out why Ford didn't include a rear one.
