X-Plan for Future Purchases
Go with X-Plan and save without the hassle of negotiating. On an older thread Mort 97Cobra posted that people who sent for Ford's Investment Package received the X-Plan form in it. I ordered one and sure enough it was in there. For a general explanation (see post below for more info) of how X-Plan works, goto this site and click on "Ford Partner (X-Plan)"
http://www.aplanheadquarters.com/
The X-Plan form states right on it, "... you may pass this information on to a friend, neighbor or extended family member..." and everyone on F150Online is my friend for all their helpfull advice they have given me, so off it goes to all my friends.
It is also good for Mazda, Mercury, Lincoln, Volvo, and Land Rover on top of our wonderfull Fords.
If you would like the form (I scanned it into PDF so you will need Adobe Acrobat Reader to view and print), which has to be submitted by the end of March but should be good on up to two purchases per year thereafter, email me acbellnj@yahoo.com and I will send you the attachment since I can't post it here.
Best of Luck,
Adam
PS. I used X-Plan and it works. I ordered and received my '02 KR and paid below Invoice!

Can't go wrong with the X-plan. Buy any truck you want for a few hundred dollars below invoice, HASSLE FREE! I got my XLT for $25,900 fully loaded (stickered at $30,500). You can then take your savings and customize your F150 to your tastes for less than what Ford charges.
Here's an update and some answers to some of the more commonly asked questions.
This X-Plan form is Ford's "Friends & Neighbors" Special Vehicle Pricing Privilege. You do not have to be associated with any organization, just give your dealer the PIN and he will verify it.
Depending on when the form is faxed into Ford, they have been e-mailing the X-Plan PIN out within one to two business days.
This form expires the end of March, but your PIN is good indefinitely or until Ford changes or cancels the program so you don't have to buy a vehicle before then. The only real restriction, not that too many of us could afford it, is you may only purchase two vehicles per year.
X-Plan is a no haggle price and you are still eligible for all promotions, rebates, and financing and there are also certain rebates that are only offered to X-Plan participants. To get a rough idea of vehicle savings alone, take Ford's Sticker Price (not sure on the other brands if the percentage is the same) and times it by .875 to get a rough X-Plan price (Only way to be sure is see the invoice with the A-Plan price, multiply by .04 and add it back to A-Plan to get X-Plan). They also wave the documentation fee. All in all, you can save thousands.
Why is Ford doing this? You have to realize that this doesn't hurt their bottom line as they move more vehicles above cost, only the dealers make less of their hold backs, but still do make money.
Helpful hints: 1) Don't tell a dealer you are X-Plan until you have everything in writing, whether this is an order or from dealer stock. They won't give you the time of day or let you test drive vehicles, will overprice any options, or will under value your trade. This happened at two dealers, so the third one, we waited until the paper work was done and then told the salesmen. He didn't like re-writing the bill-of-sale, but that is the only way to play it safe. 2) Make sure when you do tell them your X-Plan, you ask to see the invoice (they are suppose to offer to show you). It will have the "A-Plan" price in the bottom right. Then you can take 4% of that number and add it back to it to get X-Plan. I've heard some dealers may try to fudge this (so they can make more money) if you don't ask to see it.
Well that’s most of them for now. If you have any other questions, let me know.

I faxed my app in early last week. Still no PIN # yet. Maybe they got deluged with requests...LOL. Hopefully I'll get it soon and then I'll have to find a dealer that will sell to me using the x-plan...
Well, just got home and Ford sent me a pin#!!!
If you visit their website, build a vehicle, then look at your area Dealers' inventory, the x-plan price is right there next to MSRP. Although to me, it seems close to invoice (multiplied MSRP by 87.5%. I'll have to check Edmunds and see if the x-plan prices are actually lower than invoice. And if so, by how much...

So far, what I've seen is all a few hundred below Inv. It depends on how popular or hard to get the truck is to what kind of savings you will see overall. Our truck was going for $1500 over Inv and we got it around $338 below and they waved the $160 documentaion fee for a savings of almost $2000. Had our truck come in before the new year, X-Plan was also giving another $500 off, so your savings can really add up.
x plan for futire purchases
Who is eleigible for the X plan?? I am active duty military, and I am looking at purchasing my Screw in the next 6 or so months. Anybody know if I or my fellow servicemembers would be eligible???
The form I got is for Ford's "Friends and Family Program" (X-Plan) and there are no eligibility requirements at all. You just send it in and they send you a PIN in a day or two. Send me an e-mail and I'll forward the form to you. acbellnj@yahoo.com
Uh, factory options are discounted under the plan. The local dealership had no problem with me using the xplan, the dealer still gets the holdback (2-3% of invoice).
The agreement states that you should visit your participating dealer and identify yourself as a xplan member first. I did not find any reason to trick them into giving me good service. I did my research at fordvehicles.com, printed out the truck with the options I wanted. They cant screw you as the price is locked in by the plan. The DORA will have the aplan price on it just add 4% or divide the MSRP by .875 this gets you close if you are window sticker shopping.

acbell emailed me the form a couple of weeks ago. I faxed it in and within a week had the PIN number emailed to me by Ford. I am friends with the General Manager of the local Ford Dealer where I live and asked him about the X-Plan. He told me he had rather deal with me as an X-Plan member than sell me a vehicle for Invoice since he gets more incentives to sell under their plans. I would be upfront with them and let them know you are using the X-Plan. It is a few hundred below invoice without all the hassle most folks get. Here is a link that you can find the X-plan, MSRP and Invoice price on Fords. http://www.forddirect.com/default.as...ehiclePrograms It will also show what is in stock at your local dealer. I am not sure how often it is updated but should give you some idea of what is out there and how much your X-Plan cost will be.
I think Mick from NJ meant multiply the MSRP by .875, although this could be "fuzzy" math.

Well, I guess these forms are finally getting around and they are getting backed up with requests because it use to take a day or two, HeHeHe. Well, a week is better than never.
As far as dealing with dealers and telling them your X-Plan, this will vary based on what you are doing and whom you know. If you are just buying the truck with factory options and no trade-in, then go for it. In our case, because we were getting a number of dealer options that X-Plan doesn't apply to, we found that they were marking them up higher than for a regular sale. Now this may only be indicative of some shady dealers we ran into in NJ and not reflect the rest of the country. Of coarse, if you have been working with and have a relationship with a salesman who will take care of you no matter what, then tell them up front. I was just letting everyone know about our bad experiences so they wouldn't have to go through them too.

Hey acbell
I agree with you. If you do not know any dealers then get the prices first. Also you should do your own research on the various options (dealer installed) that you are interested in purchasing.
