finally found the perfect mate for my SCrew!
LightningCrew,
I noticed that you have the 2" rear drop shackles on your SCREW. A couple of quick questions, Do you have the 5.4? I pull a 4800lb boat with my SCREW and I was wanting to put the drop shackles on but I was concerned on how it would affect the towing. How heavy is your boat? If you could give me your feelings on the shackles and how they affect towing I would greatly appreciatte it.
Thanks,
Justin
P.S. Great choice on the Nautique Pesos

jrudd - my boat weighs about the same. I really see no affect after installing the shackles. The 2" drop is not quite level, but when I put the boat on it drops the rear end exactly level. Still pulls great. And yes, I have the 5.4. Towing has a lot to do with the trailer too - you just can't beat a tandem-axle trailer. We also have brakes on the trailer. But just in regards to pulling, I have no problems whatsoever.
JRudd,
Tongue weight on trailers varies according to setup and weight of boat. For LightningCrew, sounds like his has just enough tongue weight to level out his truck. Most important for trailering will be having the trailer level when towing, this improves the handling.

You guys with your stick ski boats, and wakeboards, and knee boards.... Forget about all that gear and just ski on your hands or feet like I do at 47 years old!!
I don't need no stinkin' skis!!
Just kidding with you guys, ALL water sports are GOOD sports!! And a day at the lake beats the office ANY day!
PS. Note the F250 on the shore!!

Wow! Looks like you could drink the lake real quick that way. How fast are you going to do that, around 40mph?

To Hand Ski 30, on my feet 45 MPH. Actually, you have a tunnel of air created by your chest. It's when your hands wash out from under you, and your face goes back on the water that you can get a snoot full. But hey, It's still a blast!! I skied yesterday in 75 degree weather! ahhhhhhh!!!
Ski ya!
Ski ya!
Torpedo, Show me the pics of YOU hand skiing behind the boat.
I do all my tricks except this one behind the boat, and have qualified and competed at Nationals the last several years. Not bad for a 46 year old geaser. We use the boom to learn new tricks before moving them back behind the boat, like skiing backward. You can go slower and the falls don't hurt as badly while you are learning them. Which is a good thing when you are my age.
But, hey..... Show me the pics of you hand skiing longline and I'll conceed not being a "Real Man"
