P-E rolltop cover
P-E rolltop cover
I spent several hours last night trying to get a P-E rolltop cover to fit well in my truck. I have the Ford Duraliner and there simply wasn't enough room from front to back w/out making major mods to the liner (big cuts at front and tailgate). Also, I didn't realize that the side rails would be so wide that I couldn't use my bed extender. For these reasons, I'm sending it back.
Can anybody tell me if the access cover will work with both the bedliner and the bed extender? The guy I ordered the rolltop from has been very helpful and he also sells the access cover. It looks like it would meet my needs but I want to ask more questions before I try another one. Thanks for any help.

I can't give you a direct answer because I don't have a bedextender. However, I can tell you that the Access Cover comes with metal rails which attach to the sides of your bed using C-clamps. These rails probably narrow the width of the bed by about one inch on each side. Just check and see how much clearance you have on each side between your bedextender and bedrails. If it is more than an inch on each side, it will probably work. Also, please post your results because I am thinking of adding a bedextender.
The Access Cover will work fine with the bed extender. The square "posts" at each end of the tailgate where the extender is attached is much farther in than where the rails will be. I have a Line-X spray-in liner, but cannot think of any reason why there would be a problem with a slide-in liner. The overall quality of the cover is very good. The only part I have any concerns about is the sealing integrity at the front. Line-X sprayed the top of the front rail, which leaves a rough surface for the vinyl "lip" to touch. Water has come in where the two hold down straps are located. I have heard of some who have added weatherstripping across the front and have been very happy with that. I tested some weatherstripping, but it did not stick to the Line-X. If any of you have applied weatherstripping, did you use a thin layer or a thick layer that is actually compressed by the front bar? Any ideas or comments from other Access owners?
When looking for a cover, I liked the concept of Pace-Edwards, but with every inch of bed space being premium it did look like a good match for the SuperCrew.
