...All of you Screw owners. I've been pondering buyin a 01 XLT SC 4x2. Currently in a 96 Explorer Spt, which has been perfect. Even has the original battery still. I can get one for 7K under MSRP, which seems like a great deal. My question is 'Are you happy so far with you're SC'? Drawbacks? (I know mpg sucks), advantages? Thanks for any feedback...
As a former owner of three different Explorers, I can tell you that you can't go wrong stepping up to the F-150 SuperCrew. I have only had mine a month now but have enjoyed every minute!
Go for it
I went from a 92 Nissan Pathfinder to my SCrew.
No complaints. There really is no comparison between the two vehicles. I've forgotten how nice it is to have a full size, V8 powered vehicle.
Only comment (and you mentioned it..) is gas mileage. I've been averaging about 17 with my 2WD 5.4L Screw.
Parking is a little bit of a challenge. It's long. I usually back in to parking spaces to make it easier to depart. Scan through the SCrew forum and you'll see alot of good comments on the SCrew.
Good Luck!

This is the second S-Crew truck I have owned. I cannot say enough great things about these trucks. The drive is smooth and look is total Boss. There is no other vehicle out there, in my opinion that looks as great as these trucks. Get the S-Crew. You wont be sorry.
OK Thanks...
For all your comments so far! If I do go for it, it'll actually be less than what I paid for the Sport over 5 years ago! And it is a pretty big honkin truck too, LMAO. It has the 5.4, 6cd, capts. chairs, etc. and I like the fact of the full size rear seats. Some of my golfin buds are big guys, gotta have enough room back there!...I'm gettin the itch to pull the trigger LOL...

Ok now, take a deep breath, exhale about half and squeeze trigger. It'll drop like a rock....
BTW - Folding the rear seat down is a great place to keep you clubs. Done this myself many times. (can't haul your golfing buddies with the clubs in the backseat- maybe put those scorecard cheating bums in the back)

I have to say this is the first ford I ever owned I traded in a 99 Jeep grand (POS) that was in the shop more than I drove it and it had a 4.7L V8. My SC gets better mileage than the jeep did. I am really happy with my Ford SC it has been perfect and I would buy it again. The only problem is all the $$ it is taking from me for mods
Good Luck

Strongwind, thanks for your encouragement!
So Cal SC, that's one cool lookin truck you got there! BTW, I see your from Oxnard, CA. I grew up in 1000 Oaks (now in Long Beach). We use to play against Oxnard while I was playin sports in HS...

I love mine.
When I got it all the guys at work were jealous too. We used to take turns driving at lunch time--now I get elected to do ALL the driving.
Seems like everywhere I go I get compliments. It's a pleasure to drive and I couldn't care less about the gas mileage (actually its only a mile or two less per gallon around town than my old 6 cylinder Ranger, believe it or not).
I've ridden in several Explorers, and in my humble opinion the Screw is a major improvement. If you want some dry space in the back, get a Screw and put a hard tonneau on it.

Ditto. I sold a '96 XLT Explorer that I had zero problems with. I have had my 2002 Lariat Screw since mid Oct and I love it. My wife loves it. The neighbors love it. It rides better and is quieter than the Explorer. Parking is the major drawback......you can't just slide into a parking space the way you could before. My '96 had a V8 and the 5.4L in the Screw is much the same as far as accel and power.
In1999 I bought an Explorer , ran great ,no probllem's And a nice SUV. I have alway's had big truck's so the explorer was a switch for me . Anyway's I did'nt like the Explorer So I went out & bought a 2001 Screw 4x4.I love driving it . The best truck I've had so far. 21,000 Mile's with only 1 minor problem. At this point I will probably buy a new one in 2003 or 2004.
