2" rear drop on 01 Supercrew

I'll be installing the Belltech 6400 shackles this Friday to achieve a 2 inch drop and level the truck. Is there anything in particular I need to pay close attention to during the process. I'll be using a floor jack and stands. Any advice would be appreciated.

Did you get a good deal on the Belltech 6400 shackles ? I found them at summitracing for 65.00.

When your done let it be known how easy/hard it is because i want to do the same thing myself.

Rotate the shim under the leaf springs 180 degrees to get your pinion angle back to what it was. The whole process shouldn't take more than an hour and a half, if you take your time.

Make sure to take all of the pressure off of the springs before you pull out any bolts!!! Otherwise, the spring will slam into the bottom of the bed and put a nice little dent in the bed floor - I speak from experience

BTW, i got the 6400 Shackles at 4 wheel performance in Marietta for $65 plus tax

No - after install I never had any problems with vibration/ noise. It seems like it depends on what kit you use if you will have a problem. I used Western Chassis drop shackles - $32.00/ pair!!

Now when I say no vibration, I meant no more than I already had (like everyone else is having trouble with around 65 mph)

Rear drop and shims

Do a search on this subject. You'll see my pictures and installation guidelines. Shims ARE very important. Do not overlook this point.

Look for DTMblack screw

Well that was fun!

Installed my shackles today. After figuring out when the pressure was off, the drivers side was easy. Goto the passenger side and take the bolt out and WHAM! That sucker slapped the bottom of the bed!:o It did'nt hit hard enough to put a dent in the bed, but it did shock me and my friend when it let go. LOL

Drove it down the interstate and she rides great! I'm very pleased, though still wonder if shims are still needed. I know some have said yes and some havent said anything. Well, are they mandatory ??
