S-crew Bed Length

Do you think Ford will make the S-crew bed length longer? It is too bad they did not go an extra 6" or more. I have heard different opinions about the looks on the truck & the bed space. I love the interior and I think I will get one as my next truck.Opinions???

I was told by my sales guy that they made it shorter to fit in a standard 20' garage and mine just fits ?

I want a longer bed. 6.5 ft minimum.

Standard garage? It sounds like Ford is telling us what kind of vehicle we want to buy. I used to move a lot with my job and lived in 10 or 12 houses (in 5 states) in the past 10 years. About 1 in 3 of the places I looked at had a 22 ft garage. I just choose the ones with the big garage. It had to fit my 1974 F-150 Supercab with an 8 foot bed (155" wheelbase). If you go by the standard garage theory, we should all drive Escorts - just in case someone lives in one of those houses built by "Save-a-Nickel Contracting and Construction Co." with the attached 17' garage.

Sorry for going off there. Back on topic - I miss having a pickup with real bed. I want 7 glorious feet of bed to carry a big couch, or a washer AND a dryer, or bicycles with the tailgate up, or a motorcycle, or 12' long 2 x 6's.

I like it the way it is. It is no longer than my last Supercab and I have all kinds of cab room. I guess it depends how you use it.

I need cab space
I need a tow vehicle for my trailer.
It is a great utility truck
I don't need anything that sucks more gas.
It is cheaper than an SUV ie Expedition
It has a longer wheel base (for towing) than a SUV.

I would like to see a 6.5 ft bed as an option. Although I must admit that the shorter wheel base is nice for turning & fitting into parking spot's and such.I guess if I were going to go to a longer truck/wheelbase I would buy a crewcab Superduty. Does anyone know how long of a bed the chevy's & dodge's have on their 1/2 ton crew cab's ? I'm not talking about that thing chevy make's with all the plastic ***** on it called the avalanche or what ever it is,I just know it ain't no truck! UUUUUUUUUUUGGGGGGLY !!!
Hell,I would'nt want to see my exwife drive one of those. Not trying to go off on that thing, but I would be embarrassed to drive around in one. (what ever float's your boat I guess)
Later...Mike

Couldn't agree with you more about the Avalanche. As someone else on this site said - "Every time I see one I wonder how many Rubbermaid trash cans had to give their lives to make that truck".

I couldn't agree with you guys more .

I own a 99 supercab 4x4 orp , and am in the market for a new truck I like the super crew but think I would really miss the foot of bed space . I test drove a superduty crew cab with a 5.4 and 4.10 gears and the thing felt really underpowered !

My kids are getting bigger and need the cab room , I am Ford man thru and thru , I wouldn't even consider Dodge or Chevy .

I was told by a dealer that the reason they don't build a supercrew with 6'1/2" bed is because they used the same frame as the supercab short bed and I asked why couldn't they use the supercab long bed frame then ! He said that they don't make one I told him he was wrong and that he should atleast know something about the products he is selling .

I hope your listening Ford, others want a 1/2 ton truck with a real bed and 4 real doors !!!

Lightbulb Supercrew

The SuperCrew is perfect. It was designed to be what it is. If thats not what your looking for, then why not go buy a F250 4-door SuperDuty with whatever size bed you want.

Well said Mark.
I traded in my 99 F250 crewcab shortbed 4x4 PSD for this. I loved the power that diesel made, but it was too damn long!
I love my 01 4x4 Screw, if only it came with a light weight diesel that made the same hp numbers. THAT would be what to wish for!

Capp,
I understand that the 2003 will have a deisel option. A v-6 I think.
I hope with the new body style change in 2003 the don't look goofy. I heard rumor's that the front end will look similar to the 2002 explorer. I hope the don't cover the bumper's with plastic like that.

I kind of agree on the fact that the Supercrew is fine as is. I think the 250 is the option for longer beds. The S-Crew is in trying to stay in the same size vehicle as the Extended Cab's while still being possible in parking lots and "Most" garages. There are garages of all sizes, but standards are normally 20'.

I really need and love the interior space. I must admit, I dont use the bed space a whole lot, but I think the truck does what it was designed to do.

I was told by a dealer that the reason they don't build a supercrew with 6'1/2" bed is because they used the same frame as the supercab short bed and I asked why couldn't they use the supercab long bed frame then ! It amazes me how much these dealers DONT know about the expensive trucks they are selling. I was told that a rear bench seat was not an option in the King Ranch. He then said "You could order this King Ranch w/ a moon-roof and a rear entertainment system" - Oh no you can't dumb a-s!

It's a miracle some of them sell anything.

I'm a little confused that you said the dealer said you could order a moon roof and entertainment system with the KR and are you sure you menat to say that you couldn't or could?

I think I know what you meant to say but it doesn't read that way I don't think or am I out to lunch?

See Ya,
