Warrenty Issues
Warrenty Issues
For everyone that has installed a FIPK (or other air intake) and upgraded the exhaust on your truck:
Do any of you ever worry about voiding your warrenty? Or your extended warrenty?
I am very nurvous now about doing anything, here's a little story:
Dodge Neon owner installs his new exhaust system. Car starts to act funny so he takes it in. Seems he fouled his O2 sensor. Dodge told him to take a walk. They wouldn't pay for it.
It sounds kind of stupid but it cost him $280. What if it happens again?
Also has anyone installed an upgraded air intake WITHOUT upgrading the exhaust at the same time? Did you notice any back pressure?
Thanks,
Justin

I have never worried, because the extended warranties are written so they cover the Mfg parts. The only time your after market part voids the warr. is if the part you install causes the failure. (Then you have to have friends at the dealer.)
I think your friend got screwed. The air intake gets more air in, but it should still burn normally and not raise the exhaust temp. I've had two O2 sensors go out on me. One in my '92 Ranger and the other in my '97 F-150. Neither truck had any air/exhaust mods done. Sometimes they just go out.
