Talking put on my airraid tonight

well guys (& girls--politically correct)

I installed my airaid system tonight..... very smooth installation
took just over an hour.....and had a phone call in the middle...

then took a test drive..... could really tell....both in power and sound (if ya tromp on it especially)

LOOKS GREAT i got the silver one....

I used a combo of the instructions that came with it and those from the sporttruck.com web page

Question

MikeBike,

I just ordered an Airaid for my 99 4.2L V6. Now that you've had yours in for a few days, have you seen any improvement in gas mileage? I'm certain, by your posting, that you've got a bit more torque going to the rear-end, but I was also wondering if there were any other improvements.

Your gas mileage can go up, if your not a lead foot and like to stomp on it. The air filter box replacement allows your engin to breath easier. This means that it becomes more effecient. It also means it can pull in air a lot faster. Because you can pull more air though, your can also burn fuel faster!

You will get more power, but if your like me you tend to play with that extra power and stomp on it (13 MPG, 4x4). I tend to drive around 80-85MPH on the freeways here in San Diego, and I pay a hugh penalty in gas. I'm getting a bit better about not driving so damm fast but it's so hard when you feel your your king of the road.

I do highly recomend to anyone to get one of these air filter replacments. Also give it a few hundred miles to settle in after you install it, you will notice that the computer will adapt to it a bit in the shift points, etc.

Also put on a cat-back. It will sound great and is the only other inexpensive thing other than the air filter you can do to improve your mileage/power.

My next upgrade will be ther superchip, mainly for the crappy shifting that Ford has programed into there stock configuration.
