New Screw

After almost 3 months (ordered 7/17) I finally took delivery of my new 2002 Screw on 10/13. "Delivery" was not a pleasant experience . The finance guy knew whenI was coming but did not have a thing ready. Then forgot to credit me for my intial deposit! It was pouring rain (normal for Houston) so they just cleaned the interior (not very well). Then showed me how to open and lock the ARES cover and handed me the keys. I had to ask (knew to from previous '96 Explorer) for the card with the master code for the door keypad. Salesman had it in his pocket. Manual was still in shrink wrap in glove compartment! Oh well, I love the truck!

Congrats!! Despite some of the Ford quality stuff I love mine and I am sure you will as well.

I sympathize with you on the finance guy.......mine had the nerve to add in dealer options (warranty, etc.) to the finance agreement without saying a word thinking I would just sign it. I almost walked out.

The only thing the dealer seemed to care about upon delivery is that I gave them good marks on the survey Ford sends out. That would be the best place to voice your concerns. I would also recommend you hold on to the survey until after your first service and any warranty items are resolved.

Enjoy!!

Thanks Guys,

I will hold on to the survey until my first service. I have been checking the truck close and haven't found much other than a few small paint flaws and some things that need to be cleaned up. One thing that puzzles me is that I don't have autolamp. It's a Lariat w/ Captains Chairs so the ordering guides say I should have it. I had the lightning front put on with the fogs (it's a 4x2 so it didn't have them) and I suspect that they just threw in the first switch they had w/fogs. I'll have to check. Again, thanks everyone for all the help!

stewscrew,

you mentioned in the description of your truck that you had the homelink system. my '02 screw KingRanch has that too, but my mom just ordered herself a '02 screw lariat and the dealer said that it doesn't have the homelink. did you add that on it? mom has more than one garage door so it would be helpful having the homelink for them.

I think the homelink is a option on the Laraint, mine didn't come with it either but I'm thinking of adding it in the future. It was listed on the Ford homepage that it was available on the Laraint. Also would have liked to have had the power rear window option too that would be real nice hehe..

yes, my mom did get the rear power sliding window, but i guess it is late-model year available, but the dealer said the homelink wasn't even an option. i will have to call him on it. thanks.

Hey Skagel I could be wrong, Doh....sorry. It is standard on the ranch king but doesn't list it as an option on the Lariant. Anyway if you goto this link the last one has the Homelink listed as standard on the RK

Hey Stewscrew,
You have got to post pics of your new ride. I have been thinking about putting the lightning front end on my screw and would love to see how yours turned out.

Hey jrudd & Skagel,
Yea I know....... I took pictures last weekend but the resolution was set too high (2048x1536) on the digital camera I borrowed. It makes the pics too big to post here but they look great on my computer! Will try to get the camera again next weekend and do it right. LIGHTNINGCREW has one with the front end done, you might search this site for his ride as that's where I got my inspiration. As far as the homelink is concerned, I diidn't see it as an option but one of my friends has an Expedition EB with the Homelink in the same color interior. I asked the parts guys and they said the visors in the F150 and Expedition are the same so I ordered one and it works great!

hey stewscrew,
i figured the wiring would be there and i could just install the new visor when my mom gets her truck. so my question is ..is it pretty simple to install or should i let a professional do it?
ditto on the convienance factor of the home link...now i don't have to worry about having multiple garage door remotes hanging on the visor.

I thought I had heard the homelink visor was untra expensive though from one of the other lariat guys who looked into it? Was it pricey?

(not for me, I have the KR, just curious)

Skagel,
I don't know how difficult the install is 'cuse I didn't do it. But looking at the old visor they gave me it shows a couple of screw points and clip connector for the wiring (I have lighted miiror visors on the Lariat, I don't know if all versions have it). Easy to program and all buttons worked the first time.

logical,
I don't know the exact cost because it was something I traded for (the dealer owed me from a job on my old Explorer) but I think you are right. It was around $300 if I remember correctly. Does your KR have 3 buttons or the 5 buttons that includes the TravelNote? (like it shows in my owners manual)

5 buttons, although i think the cute little note my sales gal left me is still there...personally I have little use for the thing...i'd just as soon have a door open hider in the overhead and do totally without the memo function.

The reason I was asking is that I have 3 buttons and so did my friends Expo EB. The owners manual only shows the "how to" on the 5 button. The 3 button ones have no memo function and I agree...I would have little use for it
