Thumbs down

My friend heard that the prices have been jacked up by the dealers to cover the lower interest.

dealerships don't finance the vehicles themselves, so i don't understand why they would try to jack up prices. they still pay ford the same amount for each truck they buy, whether it's leased or bought...

Hey Troy,

Good point. Also, the dealer cannot change the MSRP or invoice prices for the region either. The MSRP value is national and the invoice amount is controlled by Ford also and it is based on location in the country by zip codes. On top of that, the dealer holdback is always, as far as I know, 3% of the MSRP value. All the numbers mentioned should not change unless they are changed everywhere, even Kelly Bluebook and Edmunds to name a few.

I just picked up my left over '01 on Wednesday and got 3.9% for 60/mo. Dealer called last night and told me to come back today and re-sign all the paper work and I said, WHY!. Dealer said 'cause the rate went from 3.9 to 2.9, interested to save one point on your loan, I said, that's a no-brainer to me, see you tomorrow after work! I would have driven 100 miles away to save $875 or more over the loan life or $15/mo, wouldn't you?

My $0.02
