Moonroof noises

I bought my SC on 2 July and it only has 3500 miles on it. For about the last month I've noticed that the moonroof is making a creaking noise, especially when it is opened. Also, when the roof is fully opened I hear a fluttering/whomping type sound. This goes away if I partial close the roof. Has anyone else experienced this? If so, what can be done about it? Will the dealership be able to correct it?

Thanks!

If the flutter goes away when you crack your windows, this might be corrected with a wind deflector for your roof. Don't know about the squeak. Hope this helps!

Try two things for the flutter/whomping noise.
First, make sure your AC is on vent or AC, not MAX AC (Max AC recirculates cabin air).
OR
Second, as suggested by Robodude30, try cracking the rear windows until it stops.

Air going over the roof at speeed creates a pressure drop and tries to suck air out of the cab. By cracking the windows or running on "vent" you allow air to flow thorough the cab and out the moonroof.

Don't know about the creak. Don't experience it with mine. I will agree it is a little noisy when open. Would be interested if anyone has any success with the deflector.

This site has one possible fix for the moonroof flutter noise-

http://www.over.to/SuperCrew

Scroll to the bottom to see it.

I also get a low pitch wind noise with the roof open, but I'd heard it before on regular 4 door sedans, and cracking the rear windows open a bit cures it.

I bought my 2001 SCrew on 8/23/01 and I also get the creaking noise if the sunroof is open or closed. Haven't taken it to dealer, and WD-40 sprayed all over the place didn't help.

I installed a wind deflector for my moonroof, I think it did help with the noise issue, I thought it was too windy with the roof open before, now its pretty good. It takes a little open space away from the roof but only a few inches. I have a cheap digi-cam but if anyone would like to see a picture I'll gladly post some. Actually there are a couple of pictures in my gallery that show it pretty good, although from a distance.

S'Crewloose,
Looked at the photos on the site. Would like to see a little more detail. Could you post a photo or two showing the deflector in your album? I assume the deflector attaches with adhesive?
Thx!

(BTW - you picked a great color for your truck)
