Question Bed Rail Caps

Does anyone know if there is a manufacturer making diamond plate rail caps for the SCrew? The Plastic rails on my GenI are getting pretty beat up...

I haven't seen any. I think the factory replacements are pretty expensive.

Hey torpedoj2001,

I posted the daws web address for you but I guess you never went back to the thread on the Avalanche where you commented on the cheap plastic body parts.

jryager,
Thanks for the credit, or did you find the address too?

Daveman,

Sorry about that credit, yes I saw your post, couldn't remember where or who but had visited and bookmarked the website. I can't seem to get the Search on this site to work to help me find posts that I am looking for, is there some trick?

Okay jr,

Man, you are a pain.

Here goes, when in the search dialog box, put in the text you want to search for under the section " search for keyword" or "search by user name". Next select search your search options and click perform search.

Seems to work okay for me.

Try searching for "avalanche", without the quotes added, select search titles only under the search options and you should find the original post where I applied the link to daws. Send me a personal email if that doesn't work.

See Ya,
DaveMan

Here's another site http://www.deezee.com/ They have an outlet store online.

I'll give the credit to Daveman for this one (as a payback)... .

Daveman, I figured out why I couldn't get the search to work... I was using the site search (to the left), instead of the search button at the top of this page vs the one at the bottom of every post.... Thanks, your comment about the dialog box made me realize I was using the wrong search.

Hey jryager,
Hope you realize I was just kidding about you being a pain.

I used to get a friend of mine's dad to help me when I was a kid to do machine work and welding on bicycles. Tim's dad was a shipyard worker and he had tons of experience doing almost anything and he had a tool for everything.
I used to go see Mr. Seese and ask him to help me with something and he would always say, "damn boy, you got a paper a$$ hole". I would always laugh and I never did find out what he meant by it. Mr Seese died early with cancer and Tim killed himself on a dirt bike before I was 20. How I digress.....

Anyway, Mr. Seese would always stop what he was doing and help me anyway he could. He just needed to vent every now and then but he never meant anything harmful. I think he only treated folks that way if he liked them. If he didn't like them he wouldn't say much.

I guess Mr. Seese's habit somehow rubbed off on me over the years. I usually try hard to help folks whenever I can, I just like to gripe a little while doing it.

Talk to you later,
DaveMan

Thanks Jr, Daveman and Curt.
I went to both DeeZee and Daws... They all seem to say the 6' rail caps will fit on the SCrew. It seems to me that it may need a little modification with a grinder to change the length. What worries me is that theres a slight curve in the current bed rail caps and I'm not sure the 6' rail caps will match clean enough for the 5.5' even with the modification... What to you think?

Side note, Curt where in NY are you?

Also, Jr and Dave.... Can't we all just get along?

I found a guy in florida that sells the bed rails(diamond plated) for a supercrew. he said it would be 69.99 for them plus shipping. if we order a couple of sets maybe we can get a break on them.

I live in new york city, where is long beach. is it in L.I.
curt
the place i called was naples hitch. i have ordered stuff from a guy jeff that works there.

I'm on the south shore of the Island. Not to far from the city. Just past Rockaway Beach... From my house I used to be able to see the Towers in the skyline... Not any more... I was just in the city on Sunday by boat to see the SuperBoat International races from Liberty State Park to the Intrepid... Didn't think that would be the last I saw of the WTC Towers... Good thing I got some pics...

I'll post them when I get them back from development...

Thanks for the info on the Rail Caps.... I'm going to look into them and I let you know....

Torp!!!

Stillen supposedly have some coming. They were shown at SEMA but have not yet been released. They were on the SuperCrew project truck.

How about replacement bed caps that aren't diamond plate? I have a Retrax cover and I am getting tired of seeing those gray plastic caps sticking out from under my black cover.

Does anyone have any idea why Ford likes putting caps on our trucks that are a different color than any other part of the trim? Seems like they would either offer caps in black or make other trim match. Geez...
