Talking STV Lightning Tail Lights/Tonneau

Yes, I've heard alot about these in past threads and I know I will get alot of info if i search, but now that ford as upped the price I don't know where to get them cheapest. I really want a pair for the rear of my deep wedgewood blue supercrew. Also, does anyone have any experience with the Access Roll Up Tonneau Cover? I am looking at one and am wondering how it will perform. Any difference between the Access Roll Up and the Literider models other than black rails and 75 bucks? It doesn't make much sense to buy the more expensive version if all I'm gettin is some black paint on the rails. I really need some help!

Tonneau Cover

I talked to three people (I happened to meet) that actually own them and they said the roll tops leaked real bad. I talk to a couple installers and they said they would not guarantee that they would not leak.

I am getting my first mods installed on Wed. I have decided to go with a Hinged Soft Tonneau cover. Looks like the best of both worlds. Easy flip up access and one person can take off in minutes. Other items having installed on Wed. Spray in Bedliner. Stainless steel step bars, and Westin Bull Bar with Stainless Skid Plate.

Question Tonneau

screwfun,

I would be interested to know the type of hinged soft tonneau you will be installing. Also would like to get your comments after the install is complete. I want the same type for my screw, but have yet to decide on which one to purchase.

Thanks

Try www.mrtaillight.com I got a whole set from him. You probably will not see them on the site. Give him a call, and he will help you out.

Hinged Tonneau

TC27 ...

Sports Master is what I ended up buying. There is already a thread.

https://www.f150online.com/forums/sh...threadid=47840

Purchased for $329 and that included installation. Also bought Stainless Steel step bars, Spray in Bedliner, Bull Bar with stainless insert, and a Tube Step insert for the trailer hitch. I went to a "spray in" place near the corner of Jamerson and Canton Highway. He was very helpful. (discounted everything!!!) He is a one man shop and uses the same distributers as the bigger guys over on Hwy 41 that sell all the tops.

The screw was the second truck I had him spray and both turned out great.

Hope that helps you?

tonneau

screwfun,

You mentioned that "roll tops" leaked according to three other people. Were they talking about the Access roll up tonneau (vinyl) or actual roll tops such as the roll-n-lock or pace-edwards? I have talked to a couple of people who have the Access cover and were very happy with them after they added an extra seal to the front bar. I have heard that the roll up covers like roll-n-lock tend to leak at the tailgate. In fact, roll-n-lock even has some extra wording to the effect that the SuperCrew application will leak worse than a "normal" one. The local roll-n-lock dealer even tried to discourage me when I asked about it. I have ordered a 2002 SCrew and am looking at the Access cover as my first choice at the moment.

I have the Access Roll Up Cover and love it. Highly recommended. Bought one with the black rails from Stellar Products in Hotlanta Ga for 316 bux + 14 bux shipping. It has rained sheets here and Florida and the bed has stayed dry. Only thing though, which is true for ANY bed over, hard or soft, if you park your truck at a steep angle facing downhill, you'll need to seal the sides of the tailgate or water can drip in and pool up in the front...or just don't park that way!

Anyway, the function of the Access is excellent, it looks good and is high quality. If anyone is going to go to the trouble to try to break in that thing, would be easier just to break a cab window and get in there..just my opinion of course

Good luck...

Screwfun, can you post or email a pic of your Wedgewood Blue truck with the Bull Bar and Stainless steps? Mine is the same color and would like to see what those options look like. I'm looking at getting the same thing.

Thanks!!

John

Answers Maybe

Sorry for the short answers but I do not have much time.

RDH - I have never heard of Access tops, so I do not know if they leak. I was advised that Roll-n-locks leak and not to purchase it. So a roll top was not an option. To tell you the truth I did not even know the company who made the tonnque I purchased until after it was installed. Seems like a nice one.

BlueScrew - I have a digital camera and will post Pic of Bull Bar and Step Bars when I get a chance. I am real busy with work and being in business for my self means I really do not get a day off. When work comes I have to do it.

I have a set of the Lightning tails for sale - however the screw on one side went through the inner silver part (impossible to see unless you stand right up next to the light). the other side bulged a little but didn't go through. how's $50?
