Talking SportMaster Tonneau

Hey guys, I just installed a SportMaster Hinged Tonneau on my SuperCrew and thought I'd share some pictures.

It took me a little more than an hour to install. (It would have taken only 30 mins, but my bedliner added a little complexity) This is the second SportMaster top that I have owned. I had one on a Dakota for 3 years and it held up very nice.

I was not real crazy about adding a black top to my Island Blue Screw, so I ordered a Dark Grey one instead...my thinking was that the grey would match the grew bed rails...my hunch was right...the Dark Grey is almost a perfect match and I think it looks great on the truck.

Here's where I bought the cover at. TNT Services I paid $316 shipped for the hinged cover in dark grey. The cover was shipped direct from the factory and I had it within a week.

Here are pictures I took while I was installing the top.

Thanks...David

That looks nice and so is the price.

I noticed that your cover installs over your bedrail caps. Can other covers do that like Snuglid and ARE?

How hard is it to completely remove the cover? Will it fit in the cab?

Thanks for the reply.

There are a couple of ways to remove the cover.

The one I use is I pull the 2 pins out of the hinge, unsnap the front of the cover, unhook the 2 lifts, and then I remove the entire cover and place in the garage. It only weighs about 30 lbs.

You can also unsnap the cover from the rear, remove the support rails, and roll the whole thing up towards the cab. There are 2 velcro straps that hold the rolled up cover in place.

Hope this helps.

David,

I put a Sportmaster hinged tonneau on my wife's Island Blue Screw too! Can't ask for a better setup, especially when your out with the family and decide to purchase something that's too big to close the lid on. She also gained 7 mpg and better handling. Now she has the worlds largest trunk.

Rob_NC,

7MPG increase with just a tonneau?!?!?!? I think you may want to check your math on that figure. I noticed maybe a 2-3 MPG increase on long trips with mine but 7 is unheard of!

I triple checked my math when I first saw the figures. I'm not kidding that it gets 24 mpg on highway.

Thumbs up Pictures

I'm a little late getting in on this thread, but I like the looks of your cover. More importantly I want to know what kind of camera you used to take the pics. They are great. Thanks.

Thanks. The camera is a Sony S85 4.1 Mega Pixel camera. I've only had it for a couple of weeks but I've been real pleased with the pictures so far.

Here is a good review of the camera. S85 Review

One of the things I like the most about the camera is that the batteries last a long time...I no longer have to recharge my digital camera everytime I want to use it.

Good luck...David
