Unhappy Stinky A/C

Do I want to leave my switch in the panel position to avoid mold build up and a smelly A/C?

Unhappy Not much choice

You really don't ahve much choice but to run the fan for a couple of minutes on a high setting while set to panel to help dry out the box. It is amazing though how much of a difference that makes even here in Houston where it is humid all the time. I suspect that in AZ, the dry air should make it work better.

To get rid of the existing stinkiness, spray about 1/2 a can of Lysol into the AC intake vents (on the hood). Lysol is basically the same thing that the dealership will use to do the same thing.
