I have a 01 Supercrew with bad padding around cup holder in center fold down seat. Can someone tall me how to get it apart so I can repair / replace it?

will answer my own question. There are two angled tabs in the back that act like a hinge. Then there are 4 tabs with barbs, 2 on the sides and two on the front. If you put a flat screwdriver between the hard plastic of the cup holder and the plastic bottom of the padded section, you can release some of the tabs. However even after discovering the tabs, I still broke some. This does not look like a item made to come apart. However I do not intend to buy a whole seat just because this small part tore up. I will repair it or make a replacement from wood (to match the steering wheel). Will try to post a picture when done.

The wood idea sounds unique. Interested to see the end results.

did not happen

I found a new shop that repaired my OEM padding like new so the wood version did not get made. While I think it would have looked good, it would not have been soft
