Question Gibson self install

I decided to install the gibson super truck exhaust. Well from the picture it looks like it installs AFTER the Y pipe. I crawled under my truck (4x4) and it didn't look that hard to install myself. No welds all clamps. My questions are this, 1st does this exhaust come with replacement pipes to replace the Y pipe? The exhaust on the passenger side is straight all the way to the Y, but the drivers side takes a 90 degree turn towards the passenger and about 5 inches before it connects to the passenger side (forming the Y) it is reduced drastically (I'm guessing from 3" to 2.5"). Well before the Y on both sides there are clamps right after the CATS. Does the gibson system come with pipes to replace this or does it bolt on after the Y. Also are the pipes easy to disconnect after removal of the clamps or do you have to heat them? Finally, does this really REALLY fit in all the stock mountings and hangers or does it need to be reengineered to fit. This will play a big part in whether or not I install it myself or pay the $100 to have someone else do it. I'm looking for some actual shade tree mechanics how have installed this before I call gibson and ask them the same and get the sales pitch. Thanks guys. Also I posted this here because I figure the regular and supercab model undersides are different underneath.

cajun screw

I have installed one of the systems on my screw. It attaches about 4 inches off of the muffler. This is a very easy instalation. It only took me about 1 hour, and that includes a trip to Home Depot to some new sawzall blades. You have to cut the old system off. It does use all of the factory hangers. This is the second truck that I have had gibson on and I love it. If you have any more questions let me know.

Why cut?

I looked underneath and its all clamps, so I'm curious as to why you cut the old muffler off. Also did you buy it online. The only store here that stocks it offers it for $299 plus $60 to install. Did you do the Y pipe mod as well? Just curious.

No I did not do the Y pipe. As for the Gibson, the pipe on the gibson system is only so long after the muffler. They make you cut the system and clamp the new one on. You might want to have teh new system also welded. I went to a muffler shop and they welded it for $10.

Thanks

Thanks for the response. I have just a few more questions, it appears we have basically the same truck, SCrew w/t 5.4 4x4. Do you feel a difference with the new muffler? Also I have westin nerf bars on, how far in front of the tire do the tips go. I don't want to order it and find out it doesn't fit in between the bars and the tire. Also, did you order it online. The only place I can find that sells it is summitracing.com for $289, but its backordered untill the end of the month. Thanks sweeny.

If you want to wait untill the end of the week, I should also have a set of westin step bars installed. If not, if you measure 14.5 inches from the rear wheel opening to the front, that is where the tips end. Right at the seem from the cab.
I purchased mine from carparts.com They were 294.00 then I had a coupon for 20% off. I beleive that the were now bought out by J.C. whitney. Try this address. www.carparts.com
I think that there is more power, and the sound is great.
Any more questions, let me know.

WHAT GIBSON EXHAUST DID YOU PURCHASE? HOW MUCH DIFFERENCE IN HORSE POWER WAS NOTICABLE? DOES IT VOID ANY WARRANTIES BY INSTALLING IT? BRYAN
