Got my first Screw!!
Hello!
This is my first post I've been reading this board for a few weeks now.
I recently purchased a '01 Screw XLT 5.4L. This is my first truck. My previous rides have been coupes and an SUV. I always thought, "Bah, I don't want no stinkin' truck!" However, something inside me changed and I started noticing trucks, particularly, the SCrew. When I first saw one, I was like, "Whoa, that is one bad *** truck!" So now I'm a proud owner of one!
Since this is my first truck, I'm still adjusting to driving it. My SCrew is 4ft longer, 8" wider, and 8" higher than my previous ride. The only trouble I'm running into so far is parking. I back in to all spaces now, so I can practice. But man, parking is not as convenient as before.
I've tried to glean what I can from the posts here, but I have a few questions for you guys.
1) I have the stock running boards installed, and I read that I should get "nerf bars aka side steps" or else i'll eventually have a sag in the side of the seats. Is this true?
2) My SCrew came with the cab extender. I'm probably going to remove it, as I'm worried about it being stolen. Aside from drilling a hole and using padlocks, has anyone come up with another method?
3) I'm still wrestling with which kind of tonneau cover to get. I don't like the soft cover, so that's out. I'm just down to a one or two piece hard cover. Anyone know of a reputable company in Houston, TX that installs them?
4) I want to get an alarm. I've always used Vipers. Anyone have any suggestions?

Congrats on the Screw...the excitement will never wear off 
Hard tonneaus: I would look at the A.R.E. LSII and the SnugLid...I have an Access Roll Up Cover and love it...
Nerf Bars/sagging seats???? never heard of that one. I keep the factory boards for now or else my kids would be busting their rear ends all the time. Eventually, I'll prolly get some Westin bars or such.
Locking the Bed Extender? If you have a hard top, don't worry...or just take it out till then...lock the tail gate, around here the entire tailgates have been stolen! Article in the Orlando Sentinel about F150 tailgates becoming thieves targets!
Alarm systems...can't help there, haven't researched it yet...
Oh yeah, I bought a $7.00 black whip antenna at radio shack, looks great and is about couple inches shorter than stock, good reception, and JUST fits in my garage!
