Unhappy A.R.E. Tonneau issues...

Put an A.R.E. hard tonneau on my 01' SCrew and the paint doesn't match! Noticed it before I left and the dealer agreed that the paint match was not up to par. He took my gas cover off to send to the factory for a paint match. Anyone else out there had this problem with paint match with the AZ beige color? I will let you know the outcome in 2 weeks... Thanks!

Thumbs down

I too sent my A.R.E. (in this case a cap) back for repair of the rear windows and a paint match problem. I also sent my gas cap along with it so they could use this new gadget called a compootor to match it up better. Guess what? It STILL came back dark relative to the rest of the truck. It was Arizona Beige. I even tried out side by side the touch-up paint from before and after in the little bottle they include. They looked identical. So either they didn't actually repaint it, or they have their color-blind employees working paint detail. It truly was a dissatisfying experience, considering they are purported to be the better quality manufacturer (and seem to charge for it too). Don't be shocked if it has to go back again. By the time I went through all of this, I was a beaten man, and since it was a pretty good distance away from the dealer, I had had enough. At least the windows don't seem like they'll catch on things now when I back up. I wouldn't recommend A.R.E. to anyone. Good luck.

Question ARE Tonneau II

I was looking at one of these, does anyone out there have experiences that run counter to these?
How do you folks like the ridge that runs toward the back?

Turns out there are quite a few manufacturers, who whould be avoided?

Thanks

I have the ARE LS2 hard tonneau and I love it! The paint match (Deep Wedgewood Blue is perfect! I got it at Wildasin Industries in Hanover,Pa installed for $600, the cheapest I found in PA,MD,VA,NY,NJ and CT. I would highly recommend the dealer and the product!

Have not had any issues with the paint but the screws have come out of the handle twice. Ive got them back in now with a touch of lock tight. The covers look great and I would give it high marks over all. I think occasional paint un-match happens with everything at some point.

Thumbs up

Very happy with my ARE LSII. It was scatched in transit and returned to the factory for paint repair which I think was very good. It fits good and there are no leaks. The only downside I have found is the paint seems "soft". It had some bird crap on it for less than 5 hours and left marks in the paint - had to wet sand and wheel to get the marks out.

I have had mine for a few months, the silver paint matches perfectly. In my opinion the style of the lid makes the truck stand out and look a bit "beefier".

Sorry to hear about problems with your lid, can't imagine how frustrating it must be. Hopefully it'll be fixed to your satisfaction. I have a red one, no problems with it. Goodluck!

Thumbs up ARE Tonneau

As I mentioned in a different post, I've had my LS Series II for over a year now on my SCrew. No problems at all. The paint matches perfectly and the fit is just right.

You can see pics at my web page.

When I ordered mine, I just gave them the paint code from my dealer order. Maybe white is easier to match anyway? Beats me...

I would highly recommend A.R.E. to others. Although a lot has to do with the dealer too (kind of like the car purchase). I think I paid just over $700 for mine. Didn't get any add-ons like the spoiler, interior light or remote lock. I think I'd recommend the lock and the light though. If I were to do it again, I'd pop for those extras.

I have a toreador red screw and the ARE cover matches perfectly. great fit and everything has stayed dry in several rainstorms. I think I would get the light, inner carpeting and remote lock options.

Smile Color problem resolved...

Picked up my new cover today, and they matched the paint to a T! Looks great and I am very happy. Can't wait to clean my truck and put a layer of wax on it. Thanks to everyone for the replies and support...

Lightbulb ARE covers

I work for a ford dealership and i sell many of the ARE tonneau covers (LSII) and canopies. I have only had one canopy that did not match "exactly". The sales rep usually will tell you that the cover comes "factory matched" but almost imposible to get it 100 percent correct.
