Heater Core?

I am working on my parents 2001 screw. They have been smelling antifreeze w/ and without vents on. It is pretty strong smell in the cab and if truck sits and runs a while, there is a "smoke" or vapor coming through vents. i do not notice any leaks in the cab. what other diagnosis can i do?

Sounds like the heater core to me; been thru that movie twice before. Bitch to change yourself. Count on $1000 from a mechanic.

usually with a heater core issue you will find that the pass side floor board will also be wet with antifreeze. check the carpet..... good luck.

it is a pain if you don't know or aren't confident in what you doing. if memory serves me, the shop time is 8 hours. at a shop i worked, the chief tech can do in less than half that time. he'd always tell me 'easy money'. i'm not looking forward to it, if mine ever goes out. i'll probably just take it to him.
