Post S'Crew concerns

Although the webmaster might move this post to the S&M forum, I thought I'd post it here as it's S'Crew specific. Here are the latest NHTSA results for the S'Crew:

http://www.nhtsa.dot.gov/ncap/cars/1686.html

I know it still isn't an offset result, but I kinda like the way it held up in the full frontal assault.... and would bet that it might hold up just as well in an offset crash.

Thx for the post. That was the first time I've seen the results of the test. I like what it shows....Like you, I think the SCrews should do much better in the offset than the SCabs.

Good post...

but I wonder what a 1999 Harley FatBoy will do on these crash tests?? I guess my point is that most people are going to drive what they like to drive regardless of all these type of test results...

Live and have fun liv'in!!!

Thanks for the link, good news! There was a FULL page ad in our paper Monday bragging on the SCrew, and it's two 5-star ratings in this test. I had been meaning to look this info. up for verification. Don't know if it was a national ad or not, but I was glad to see they're at least trying to deflect criticism away from our rides following the Dateline story.

We had those full page ads in the Atlanta Journal as well. I hope my insurance company doesn't try to increase rates based on the other tests!

Can someone refresh my memory. I saw a deal on the news about the crew not fairing well in the crash test. Doesn't seem that way according to the link above. Can someone tell me what they were ******* the SCrew about?

2001Bolt,
The recent "news" story was about a report put out by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (financed by the insurance companies) regarding the poor performance of an F-150 SuperCab in a 40mph offset crash test; that is, they hit an imovable concrete barrier with just the drivers side. This seemed at odds with the governmental NHTSA tests which gave the F-150 SuperCab four stars out of five for the driver and five stars for the front passenger in straight on 35mph frontal impact tests (as well as five stars for front and back passengers in side impact tests). For some odd reason.... this new IIHS test received (and continues to receive) much more attention than the more non-biased governmental tests. Funny that we're talking about the number one selling vehicle in America..... wow... just think about the increased insurance premiums....

Well, anyway, the IIHS results do not apply to the S'Crew. And quite simply put, the S'Crew is put on a different platform. What I posted were the NHTSA S'Crew results which just came out for the full frontal impact tests. Given those results (five stars for both driver and front passenger) and the test picture, It would be hard to imagine that the S'Crew wouldn't fare better in the offset crash test. I just doubt that it will ever be done.

On a side note to the Webmaster, please don't move this string to the S&M forum. It is particular to S'Crews and we kinda have our own thing going here.

p.s. You do one heck of a job with this site.

Notice how much better the scab does in this test versus the offset:
http://www.nhtsa.dot.gov/ncap/cars/1604.html

The roof didn't pop up at all in the full frontal test. I think the screw will do better than the scab at offset but the frontal results between the two are nearly the same.
