The silicone was just personal preference, I thought the keypad was not held in well with one screw and figured the silicone would help hold it in and fill any void that may let water into the door. I read where others have used Gorilla Glue.

ok so I know this probably sounds stupid, but where is the how-to that silver 2000 wrote up? I'm looking to do this mod but I want to make sure its something I can handle before trying it... sometimes when other people say "its a sinch" it takes me forever to do, LOL.

I just did this, You need metric sockets. Close window. Take four screws out, two at bottom of door, one behind plastic facia around door handle(it pops off, one under power window door control, it lifts up from the front, has a tab on rear end. Lift door panel up/off by wiggling power window door conrol out of it's cutout, same with lite bulb for courtsey light. You are now ready to go.
Remove speaker..four screws..remove door brace two screws...peel back insulation....remove two nuts that hold door handle on. You need to snap the lock thinga ma jig out of old door handle, the other one which is up to the left of this one you wiggle out as you remove the door handle from the outside of the truck. Thats it. The only hitch putting together is finding the little holes your power cable snaps into, you don't want anything loose in there. You just feel around for the holes.... I also had to relocate one of the litle plastic pegs to line up with the holes on the inside top of the door frame.
I put a winch in a four wheeler, this was cinch compared to that thing, plenty of room to work and no hidden fastners. Outcome is worth the time I put in, about 2 hours with multiple interuptions....

OK, we have all installed the keypad, I just sold my old door handle for 15 bucks on eBay, I'm happy to have 15 bucks, some guy is happy to have a stock door handle at 1/3 the price....

Can this be done on a 97??

I have a 1997 F150 XLT w/ power windows. I am going to have Ford install the ford factory remote keyless entry/alarm system. Will the keypad mod work once I have the alarm/keyless entry system installed??

keypad on 97 F150

The problem here might be the wiring harness that the keypad plugs into. The dealer installed keyless entry might not have the lead that is already in the Supercrew door. Just a thought....
