Thumbs up PICTURES OF NEW SNUGLID

For those of you who are interested, here are a few picts of the SnugLid I had installed today.

As it turned out, the dealer got the wrong lid. I had originally ordered a Stockland but they sent the SnugLid from one of their other stores instead. They wanted to charge me the price for the Snuglid ($679) vs. the price they quoted for the Stockland ($639). I told them I wasn't paying for their error so I told them to get the Stockland that I requested. When all was said and done, I left with the SnugLid for the price I was quoted on the Stockland. The pictures speak for themselves!

Snuglid is my second choice. You California guys don't understand how good you have it. The best lids are made out there and it's real expensive and un-nerving to order something sight unseen from across country for a lot of money. I've got some live lobster I want to sell you, oh they were dead when you got them, Prove it! You mean your Snuglid was damaged after we wrapped it so carefully and shipped it common carrier, and there's no dealer within 2000 miles, We're Sorry! I don't have that much faith. N6van, I'd buy one tomorrow if there was a dealer within 100 miles of me but there isn't. I've given Snugtop three chances with no luck. The guy I talked with, Lance, asked if New England was a new state!! A real confidence builder!!

I have to offer an apoligy. I'm just frustated that these manufacturers have the worst web sites I've ever surfed. If I were trying to sell my product I would have a few pic's of how it looked on every truck I made it for and have someone with a brain answering the phone to take orders. The same dealer that carries the Leer I almost bought also carries Stockland so there is hope. N6van that lid looks awesome on your truck, wish I could get one here in New England! Remember a little thing called the Revolutionary War??

Cool

ScrewKing...
Your right! There must be 10-12 dealers within 20 miles of my house with the closest being ********. One of the larger dealers in Fullerton in believe carries all the major brands! Wish us So Cal boys could help! Good Luck!

n6van, Thanks, as I told my wife it would probably be cheaper to take a road trip to Cal. and buy one, at least I could drive a ten mile strip and actually touch the top five lids available on the market today. As well as see how you guys live. Ever shovel snow?

That lid looks excellent on your truck. I just ordered an ARE lid today. The SnugLid was my second choice, but due to public opinion I went with the ARE lid. I would be happy with either one.

Cool

n6van - I have that exact same setup. Looks like we shop the same place. BTW - the American Topper and Snuglid jel logos come off real nice on a sunny warm day.

I've noticed quite a few of the silver SCrews on my way to and from work (El Segundo area. Most folks are going with snuglid from what I see.

Great looking truck...

As a matter of fact, I just came in from removing "said" logos from the lid. Also got rid of the dealer paper plates and frames. Truck looks tons better just taking off all that advertising! What amazes me is the slightly better ride I get having that lid! Not to mention the good looks. Just hope the mileage goes up a tad. Sounds like we aren't to far from each other. I'm in very north O.C. near Long Beach. Thanks for the compliments on the SCrew!

Here is yet another brand of hard lid you can look at. Even shows a picture of the lid on a SCrew. Defiantly a bit pricey!

n6van-
The lid looks real nice! When I looked at lids last year I went with the ******** because the Snuglids were not covering the front edge of the bedrail cap. Looks like they redesigned them, I think they look a lot cleaner now. I guess we really are lucky to have so many choices on lids around here. Enjoy!

n6van,

Looks good. Do you have any plans for the bed (Bed rug or Line-x)? We should hook up some time. I would like to see your entertainment system.

Boy are you guys fortunate. This hunting for a lid out here in the Northeast is maddening! Just called Stockland and Snugtop. The Snuglid with the clamp-on hinge, carpeted headliner, and shipping; $1,000.00. The Stockland with carpet and bolt-on hinge (clamp-on not available yet) $585.00. I found a ******** dealer 15 miles from my house. X-2000 clamp-on, carpet, $985.00. ARE dealer 20 miles away has LSII for $825.00 with carpet installed.
n6van the Stockland Rep. said that thier clamp-on system wouldn't be out for at least a month and also said that it didn't cover the very front of the plastic cap near the cab. Said it was redesigned because it dug in when you raised it. I think it's a good thing you ended up with the Snuglid.
Now I have a desicion to make....
Also if you go for a Bedrug get it from TNT Sevices. They're out of Maine. Thier link is on the bedliner thread. $288.00 plus shipping. Cheapest I've found. Took two weeks to arrive.

ScrewKing:
I went with the "bolt on" install rather than clamp on. The bolt on hardware is really no bother other than drilling a few holes that you never see unless you ever decided to remove the lid completely. When the lid is off, the remaining hardware has a clean look and does not impede access to the bed whatsoever. I also passed on the carpet option as I really saw no benefit of having the inside of the lid carpeted other than looks as the lid is closed much more than open. It really doesn't look that bad plain and the dealer said I could always have it done later for about $70. That money will get my front windows tinted! Unfortunately with your limited options, sounds like you will haveto pony up the extra bucks. Doesn't ******* make a less expensive model than the 2000? I remember them quoting me on a lid that was below the 2000???

n6van,
They have another ******** but it has the black plastic trim on the edge and the lid sits on top of the bed rail caps instead of hiding it. I'll probably bite the bullet and go with the X-2000. I've always liked thier clamp-on hinge system. The gas shock actually attaches to the hinge and there are no rails on the bed sides except about 8" where the hinge is. Also I like the fact that I'll get it through a dealer in case of any problems. The closest Snugtop dealer is in Tennessee. ARE LSII is my third choice. I like the hump but that handle and the painted edging just turn me off.

Guys, I have a ******** lid that is basically the same set up as the n6van's Snug. Screwking, you should be able to order your lid without the black surround molding. With the standard mount (vs. x2000 clamp) it should run closer to the prices of the lower priced models you've seen. Here is a shot of my lid
