Color Fading off
I was cleaning my interior of my truck the other day. I started to clean the door panel when the color started to rub off and onto my cloth. The color is fadeing from the are where the power window and the door lock button on the passenger side button. I was using the Ford Cleaner when this happen. I want to know what might have caused this. I think I rubbed to hard but before the cleaning some of the color was already fading.
Many of the interior panels on your truck are painted at the factory, the plastic itself being black in color. What you are doing is removing the paint. You have to be careful with any cleaner (I found out the hard way too). If the color has been removed, you will probably have to repaint the trim piece. Ford interior colors (spray) are available at http://www.paintscratch.com.

I didn't see the interior colors at first either ... They are at the very bottom of the Ford F-150 paint page
http://www.paintscratch.com./
.... the last four as I recall ... only comes in spray for the interior. Best of luck....

Texas, thanks for bringing up this topic. I noticed the same thing on my Screw a few weeks ago. It's now just over a year old. I only use a really dilute mixture of liquid soap and water and didn't expect that would cause the paint to come off, but obviously I was wrong. By the looks of the responses, I'm not alone. I'm going to go the warranty route and see what they will do for me. I'd be curious to hear how the "repainting" works for you or anybody else that has tried it.
Sorry to hear about everyone's inadvertent interior paint removal. On my second day of Screw ownership, I attempted to remove some oily/greasy spots from the dash panel with 70% isopropyl alcohol. To my horror, the tan paint came off on the rag. No excessive rubbing, mind you. Talk about taking the "new" out of a new car! The alcohol didn't take the paint down to the black, but it did cause some streaking and brightening. I wish I had taken delivery of the vehicle one week later, and had read these posts. I could have saved myself some grief.
Anyhow, all of you are correct about the trim pieces being painted at the factory. The days of trim pieces and dash panels that are color molded are apparently gone.
This may be a franchise - I don't know - but there is an outfit in Charleston called "Dr. Vinyl" that specializes in repainting interior trim, primarily for dealers. I talked to them, and they can re-paint it for about $50. Not a terribly expensive lesson to learn, I guess.

This not the first time this has happen. I taken it back before and was cover under the warrtey. They told me not to use any other Product other than soap and water or Ford vinyl cleaner. Anyway I use the vinyl cleaner and the paint still comes off and onto the cloth. The panit is not coming off any thing else just where the buttons are in the front and back. The dealer will replace the part but, it will take about 2 weeks before they could do anything to it. Since the Houston area got hit hard with rain and flooding. They are back up with cars and trucks that where caught in the flood. If all else fails I will just buy a wood kit. Does anybody knows who sells good woodkits in the houston area.
