Yes I am new to this site. I love it. Lots of great information, with a lot of help from all of you. I just picked up me new screw. There is a lot of talk about the Gen I II or III. How do I figure out what my vehicle is? Thanks for the info inadvance.

Do a search in the forums and you will find many threads about this. Gen I (like mine) does not come with keyless entry on the XLT and does not have headreasts on the back seats. There are several other minor differences and a search will reveal them to you.

My build date was back in December 2000 and I have the gen 3 screw. Being that you just picked it up it is most likely also a gen 3.
Biggest diff. is in the front seats and the headrests - or make that lack of headrests- in the rear.

I have a Gen. II XLT. I had ordered mine with the option of Keyless entry in April 2000. When I finally received delivery in September (yes, Sept. long story) The Keyless entry was now a standard on the XLT. Hence, Ordered during Gen. I run, received a Gen II. After waiting 5 looong months, I would have waited about 1 more month to get a Gen III with the new seats with rear head rests. But how does one know?? Live and learn.

4door if you look at your window sticker you will find that the keyless was not standard. It became standard in Gen II but could be added in a Gen I XLT.
