Question Newbie with more questions....

I've got 29K miles on a 5.4L engine. I'm the second owner of this truck, I bought it a month ago. I wish I had found this board before I bought my S'Crew!

I've noticed a strong burning oil smell after I drive my S'Crew.

My S'Crew was made 08/00. This makes it a generation I?.

I've learned a lot from this board.

The question that I had is would the above mentioned oil smell, could it be a head gasket? and if it is, would that be covered under the original 3yr/36k mile warranty? I've noticed no oil on the driveway and the level on the dipstick is gradually going down.

My previous truck was a 92 Dodge Dakota and it used no oil even after 120K miles.

Do Fords in general use more oil?

Thanks!

Talking

It turns out that it was the rear main seal leaking causing the burnt oil smell.

Has anyone else had this kind of problem with their S'Crew?

Hello mouse2146 and welcome. I personally have not heard of anyone having this problem and I have not had this or any other problem with my SCrew. Fords do not use anymore oil than any other vehicle. You just had an unlucky break. Did the warranty cover it?
