rough paint
Has anyone noticed what I would call a 'rough' sandpaper-like texture on the hood paint job? It looks fine and has not been waxed since I received it ten months ago. Regardless of my lack of waxing I can remember it feeling rough to the touch months ago. Our Saturn is 4 years old and the paint feels much more glass-like (on the metal hood) than the SC.
If any of you reading this don't quite understand what I am saying, just go outside and drag our palm across the hood of your Supercrew and then do the same for your 'other' newish auto (whatever that is) and tell me if your Supercrew paint job on the hood feel a bit like a really fine sandpaper.
I want to complain about this before the twelve months are up if this is indeed a paint problem. It looks fine but I fear it may develop into a problem later down the road (hence my reason for posting).
Thanks.

My truck probably did not have as much the the texture as you describe, but it had very little here and there. What I did was use a clay bar along the entire truck.
The clar bar and a soap/water solution in a spary bottle for lubrication) will remove rail dust, and any other contaminents that are embedded in the paint surface...leaving it like glass.
I was nervous at first, but I assure you as long as you follow the instructions, it is a simple process and may help you.

Aslan,
Try the 4 step process before a dealer trip.
1. Wash your truck with Dawn dish washing liquid.
2. Use a Clay Bar product
(I have used Mothers and Zaino Clay bars... both are good. Be sure to keep the clay lubricated with steady water mist, part car wash/water mix or clay bar lubricant. (I use the part car wash/water soapy mix to float the clay). The clay should clean the paint and remove the roughness making it very smooth.
3. Rewash with dawn
4. Wax your truck with your favorite wax.
If the above does not do the job, bring it back and complain.
( BTW: Don't be afraid of washing your truck with Dawn. It does not hurt paint but does remove car wax and wax build up so plan on waxing your truck soon afterward. It also cleans junk off the surface of the paint well too.)

Mine was kind of rough in several places. I clayed it 2 days after I got it. Really smoothed it out. I know I could have probably bit@hed at the dealer but I wanted to do it myself. No better time to really give it a close look.

Asian,
You can find Clay bar products where the waxes and other car wash products are in most stores like Pep Boys, NAPA, Walmarts et al.
Mothers makes a nice Clay Bar product which comes with a small bottle of wax and bottle of lubricant for $16 or so. I would save the lubricant for after the wax and just use a car wash/water mix to do the clay bar'ing with.
Good luck.
