Another S'Crew/Subwoofer... once again
I've been to the SubBox.net site previously, but you would have to remove their S'Crew box to fold down the seats; which defeats the purpose of my initial inquiry. After checking out what the Bazookas looked like, and researching a bit more at SubBox.net, I'm scratching the Bazooka's and going with the SubBox 10" sub. Their box isn't nailed or screwed in underneath the seat, and it will probably be easier to slide out (it's held in by fit and weight) than unstrapping a Bazooka tube. Andy, from their website, was very helpful and prompt in answering questions via e-mail. Their default color should match my interior as well (medium graphite). I probably won't order the box for another week or two, so if anyone has put one of these boxes in their S'Crew, their additional input would be most helpful.
Hotround, Grumps,
I'm sure we'd all love to see pics of the different routes y'all are taking with your systems. I am trying to figure out what I want to do and would like to see pics of what others do. It never hurts to let a few more paychecks come in also...

Well I think I have more to add regarding the great sub-woofer location debate. I was just looking at another members posts and pics of his new SCrew. He had temporarily removed the entire back panel behind the rear seats to show the amps he had installed.
That got me to thinking...why not make a custom panel that would house the sub woofers and mount in place of the original panel? This frees up the space under the rear seats and allows them to remain fully functional. If this is possible I'd like to hear comments on construction materials.
By the way I called MTX recently and they said they have no immediate plans to make a box as "there has not been enough requests". I wrote to Q Logic and they said they would have a sub-box in about 45 days.

Dan,
Good idea, I thought about that location for speakers too, but now I have my siren & strobe packs in that space. Anyway, why don't you provide the contacts for MTX & Q Logic so the rest of us can make requests and get them off their lazy butts.

Dan, I also checked on this idea. the box would be made of fiberglass & wood. the fiberglass would be used for the back of the box, this way it could be formed to match the contour of the cab. estimated cost 350 - 400. I am leasing my Screw & did not want to spend that much on a subbox. The installer also told me that the box would be able to be removed & the old cover put back on. But who knows if it will fit another Screw in 3 years.

I emailed Q-Logic and asked (1) if the Q-Forms would fit in the SCrew kick panel, and, (2) when they would be coming out with a Q-Custom enclosure for the SCrew. Below is their reply:
1. Yes, they do. We've found that in almost all circumstances, the cab
configuration has no bearing on the fit of Q-Forms, as long as the basic
vehicle is the same.
2. We are currently working on a Q-Custom enclosure which will house (2) 8"
subs under the rear driver's-side seat. The QL-C1FSC208 should be available
within about 60 days- hopefully sooner. I'll keep your contact info. on
file and let you know when we have a concrete release date.
Thanks very much for your interest in our products. If you have any other
questions, just let us know. Good luck upgrading your system.
I also sent a note to JL Audio asking about a stealthbox for the SCrew. They never replied.

Check out what Competition Sound Works did with a Screw in July issue of Truckin', maybe they can make that into a product.

I did close to what Flyfishhunter did. The bazooka tube fits snug under the rear passenger side seat. The two seat legs hold the tube very snug. It's only going to come out if you slide it out to lower the seat. You might want to strap it down if your worried about a multiple roll over accident. The bazooka tube comes with the mounts and straps to do so.

Just curious...What kind of cost is associated with these stereo, amp, speaker upgrades? My wife wants a SUB in her Expy but I don't want to replace the entire system. Thanks!

Fly Bow I think the Bazooka RS series is the way to go. I personnaly Prefer the RS8AHP it fits under the passenger side rear seat. One neat thing about the 8" is when the seat is in its upright locked posostion the bar or brace under the seat holds the sub much better than the straps. Bazooka Tech told me the new RS series dropped the passive sub option. This is the reason for the 150w RMS amp. The remote control module is a must in my opinion. Bazooka also recommends speaker level inputs (Better Amp Drive)unless your head unit has high voltage RCA out. My Pioneer Premiere is 4.5 volts (I Think) this is plenty to drive the built in amp. The 6" you have deciced on should be plenty Bass, I am plenty happy with mine! Just A Thought

Eddie, yeah I think the bazooka will be fine in the interim until I can build back the funds for a custom enclosure behind the seats, maybe will be enough period. My main problem is the seat still has to fold down without having to take the sub out of the cab....just a necessity of what I use it for and the 6" is the only one I can do this with. I also found the passive 6 is not an option on the new RS I have, like you said but at the price I buy them at I will probably just do 2 if I can figure out how to make the second fit with the seats down. Hopefully doing the install week of 6/11....wish me luck.
