Glad to hear that it worked out FedExPilot. I have more shots on my website in the photo page on some tire to flap clearance shots. This was a concern of mine earlier, but as the picture shows it has plenty of clearance with OEM 17" ORP tires/rims.

I'm not sure about the last two on the part number. I was wondering about that myself, maybe they are something to do with a batch ID or something, not sure.

I need to wash my truck more thoroughly, just had it through some mud before the mudflaps were installed. Guess I'll see by next week to see how effective they will be. Otherwise they look pretty nice.

Arrgh! Chuck_TX, you didn't mention that you DID have the factory fender flares on your XLT! I thought they only came on Lariats? So I'm back where I started, trying to find mudflaps to fit an XLT WITHOUT flares.

You're flaps look good though.

I should have clarified more on my earlier posting that I had fender flares. That is why the dealer had the order the second set. Sorry about that.

Autoloadr;
See my post above. Fordpartsonline sez ....
"We have a new number now just for supercrew w/factory running boards, supposed to fit with or without wheel flares."

You might want to drop them a line @ parts@fordpartsonline.com
BOL .....

Question

Hey Chuck:

I had heard from a truck parts guys that the Supercrews with the off-road package and 17" tires did not give enough clearance on the front mud flaps and as a result some rubbing would occur. In fact, the guy said the rubbing got so bad that the supercrew owner had the front flaps removed.

What is your take on this issue?

klooger,

No rubbing at all, and there is plenty of clearance on front and rear tires.

Chuck:

Hey! Thanks for the pics. That tells the whole story. Now I also heard my truck guy say that all Gen III Supercrews come with a naked chic in back. You got any pictures of that???

LOL, I wish my Gen III SCrew came with the naked chics. If they did, I'm not sure if the webmaster would allow pics like that here.

Cool

Just wanted to update this thread with a couple of additional pictures;
View: Left Front (outside)

View: Left front (inside)

View: Left rear (outside)

View: Left rear (inside)

A couple of notes:
This Screw has factory running boards and fender flares w/ 4x4, Lariat pkg and 17 inch wheels (see signature).

As Chuck sez above:
Front part #: 1L3Z-16A550-FA $31.25 (plus shipping)
Rear part#: YL3Z-16A550-CA $37.50 (plus shipping)

Ordered from www.FORDPARTSONLINE.COM - - They're a terrific parts store.

I had to modify the front mud flaps slightly by trimming off "extra" plastic and drilling a hole for an additional attachment point (to the front vertical portion of the factory running boards (photo #2). Used a dremel tool to conform the inboard, top section of the flap to the existing wheel flare... basically, put a curve in it. Sorry, no "before" pictures. This isnt really necessary ... asthetics only.

Some of the (supplied) plastic, hardware for rear flaps did not fit correctly. Used locally purchased pieces for bottom/ horizontal attachment.

Question

Nicely documented...I ran into the same problem with the hardware for the rear flaps. Kinda makes you wonder if they ever tried out their own instructions. What did you end up using for the attachment (since the 'bottom-horiz' screw doesn't seem long enough)?

Thanks

AYAK;
"Been there ... done that"
You're right; whoever the vendor is ... never used their instructions or mounting hardware !!!
It's difficult to see from the left, rear (outside) perspective (picture above), but I used a 2 inch stainless steel bolt, lock washer and nut. I also inserted a small, rubber washer between the bolt head and wheel molding.
