smcconaghie,

Try this link out for your 99 F150. I did this to mine a few weeks back. And it DOES work perfectly.

Jupiterak,

Thanks again.. Just got finished a little while ago, and the alternate link for the instructions were right on..

One problem, though.. When I pulled the unit apart, 5 springs and 5 little copper jumper connectors flew out, before I had the chance to see where they came from.. It took about 1.5 hours of playing with it, but I finally got it all back together and working again..

THANKS!

Cool

Glad I could help. Yes, "his" instructions on removing the headlamp dial/cover was tricky and confusing. I had to read it a couple times before I figured what he was doing.

Good luck.

If you do the electrical portion of the mod only, the fog lights will work with the high beams, but they will not work with the parking lights.

I haven't seen that mod, but I did my own electrical mod this weekend. It was very easy and only took about 45 minutes. There is a yellow wire coming out of the switch going to the fog lights. I cut that wire and spliced it into the brown wire which only has power when the parking or headlights are on. Now my fog lights are on when ever the parking or head lights are on.
Since I am on a volunteer fire department and have a flashing blue light, I ran the wire for it to the yellow wire going into the switch. Now my old fog light switch runs the blue light, and I don't have to install an aftermarket switch for it.
I'm putting in 9005 bulbs in the fog lights tonight and wanting to buy higher watt, extra white bulbs for the head lights, but there are so many options and things to consider. Any recomondations?

Try this websire: http://lighting.mbz.org/tech/info/

This guy has forgotten more info on lights than we'll ever know. Also destroys the myth about PIAA and Superwhite bulbs.
Was toying with doing this mod, but when my bride saw me getting the directions and looking at our new SCrew with only 220 miles on it she went berserk.
Think I'll find a junkyard, errrrrr, automotive parts recycling facility and do the mod on that.....Rube

Has anyone else tried this relay kit from Summit? The only thing that would worry me is the added heat of having both high and low beam on (same bulb, different filaments, right) at the same time, where they weren't originally designed to be. I wonder what the long term affects are (blistered lens, shortened buld life, socket malformation, etc.). I love the idea -- just wondering about the implementation.

Thanks

FedexPilot,
Thanks for the great how to manual You are composing for me. I printed the "Expy Console and Sub" and saved it to reflect as I do not have my truck yet but I am completing these mods in my head (until Ford delivers my truck...Maybe by Christmas).
There is one mod or add on that you might also want for the lights. It allows your Low beam to remain on when the High beams are activated (much like when you pull the stalk back to "flash to pass"). In the stock mode the High beams come on and the Low beams and Fog lights are deactivated leaving only a High beam light pattern in the distance and a grey dimmly lit area infront of the vehicle.
With this addition ALL the lights stay on giving a much more vibrant light pattern. You can make it yourself or buy it from Summit Racing Equipment 1-800-230-3030 Part # SUM-G6219 $14.99 + $6.95 Handling..Shipping is free so if order more than one unit (2 cars in the family or friends) it's cheaper per unit. I ordered 3...2 for me one for a friend. Works great on my wifes 97 Maxima SE and My 97 Mountaineer (which will be removed and installed in my Screw)

I completed the foglights in auto mod a few days after getting my 2001 Lariat SuperCab. Is there any way to add a DRL kit into the truck, but have the fog lights wired into it instead of the headlights? I think that would be a cool mod to do. Anyone have any ideas?

I have another question in respect to the fog light modification. I own a 2001 Screw, 5.4 L Lariat, 2x4 and replaced my valance with Ford's fog light valance (4x4). Installation is completed and works as described. A separate switch came with the kit and it's location is rediculous - it is way under the dash and I
cannot tell whether the fogs are on or not. Question: How can I install a switch near the instruments and how can the fogs be turned on whilst parking lights are on.
Maybe this is all redundent, but what can I tell you if one is a little bit limited!
Thanks.

Howdy FedEx,

Great step by step pics. They should help anyone hesitant to do the mod. I started a thread on this several months ago and was directed to the tech section by LightingCrew. Mine work fine but I'm still irritated with Ford's design of the switch. My '94 SHO had a separate switch for the fogs AND a slider to adjust the off-delay time for the autolamps. Well, it still beats those annoying DRLs and the inattentive drivers who forget to turn on their real headlights at dusk. To anyone else attempting this mod, a Dremel tool is a HUGE help.

I can not see your images of the switch modification. Could you please email them to me?
