Opinion: superchip + intake mods in Screw
I recently searched and read EVERY POST on this site concerning intake mods and FIPKs, and made a plan and implemented it on my SCrew. I am happy to report that the mod has really made a dramatic improvement in throttle response, off the line power, and general chirping tires seat-o-the-pants power. My Screw was, well, kinda sluggish and restrained when I got it, but now it can breathe, and folks, you can really feel the difference.
All I did was dissasemble the airbox, take out the stock air filter, and pop off the "snorkel" from the stock airbox that goes into the fender (it pops right off), and replaced it with some 3" grey pvc drain pipe ($3.50 for 10 feet at Lowes or HD) using a $3.00 3" black rubber drain coupling that comes with clamps. It fits perfect - the thin grey pipe fits the fender hole and matches the airbox OD perfectly, and the beefy coupling holds it all on tightly. Then I stuck in a K&N filter and put the WMS tube on the other side of the airbox to the throttle body. With the super chip in, I reset the computer, shined the new black tube and tidied up, closed the hood, warmed up the truck per the re-learn procedure on page 170 of the manual, and went for a spin. Holy sh*t! BIG difference! Two thumbs up. Mileage on a recent trip to Oak Ridge from the Atlanta area was 16.3 mpg, but I was running 78 with the cruise and AC on, and this is a 4x4.

Oh yeah, I must say, I got the ideas from this site, so I give due credit to the original posters, and thanks for sharing. Just go the the "engines" forum and do a search on "air intake".
i am a bit confused here. If you purhcased the WMS Velocity tube, i thought hooked into the fender without any extra parts needed? OR did you just make the opening larger?

Yeah, the WMS v-tube comes with a piece of hose you can use from the filterbox to the fender, but I like my mod better because it is very robust and fits tight.
I don't have a digicam, but I will scan & post photos when they are developed.

Hey Wreck...
Do you have any pix of the connection pipe into the fender well?
