Thumbs down Opinion: Leer Hard Lid

While at Home Despot the other day I saw a white Screw with a white Leer hard lid. I sure hope it was a prototype and not the real thing. The Leer lid covered the bed at the back and on the sides to hide the plastic rail caps. However, at the front of the bed the Leer lid didn't follow the form of the bed to the two pointed ends at either side of the cabw which left some severe overlap of the lid and the bed. No, it wasn't installed wrong the lid severely overlapped the bed rails at the cab on both sides.

If you are contemplating buying an Leer hard lid then you will want to see one mounted first and then make your decision.

I looked at a lot of lids, Stockland, Leer, Snug, ARE. The Snug is about the best looking but very hard to get here. The Leer looked cheap and the mickey mouse little latch on the back just didn't look right. The one I saw on a Screw didn't look like it fit well either. That is the primary reason I didn't got with the Ford offering since it is made by Leer as well. I went with the ARE. It's a compromise but at least it is very well built.

I had the experience with a Leer lid after the prototype you speak of. I was told that they originally were form fitting but they would rub on the paint. So then they decided to widen them out but that it didn't look right. So when they put the one on my truck it must have been thier third try. It was perfect in the rear but didn't cover the rails on the sides. had them take it off and got my money back. Up in the air about a Lid now.
