Spots in Paint on Roof
Just talked to my service advisor - they have had my SCrew for a week now - might get it back tonight. Noisy window motor, rubber engine flap had fallen, checking into rad issue. Also had it in for a few spots on the roof that had begun to rust - looked like little rock pecks, put were too deep in the paint for such. SA (of course this is only one man's opinion, but it made sense) stated that he thought the spots could have occurred when they cut the hole for the sunroof and hot metal flakes melted down into the paint. Of course they touched it up and buffed it out. No big deal since you really don't see the roof anyway. I just wanted to insure the rust would not get any worse. I had seen some posts on here about people having bad spots in their paint on the roof, and from what I remember they all had sunroofs, which kinda made this "explanation" make sense. However, it would seem they have a major mfg. flaw in the system that needs to be fixed. Nothing new.

I haven't seen the SCrew - or any other vehicle with a sunroof - in production, so I could be wrong.
However, that being said...
I would doubt that they would cut a factory sunroof in. The sheetmetal would be stamped with the opening at the stamping plant. And even if they did, for some reason, decide to torch out an opening for a sunroof on the line, it would most certainly be BEFORE the paint shop.

I have a factory moonroof, clearly metal was stamped and formed, not cut and welded. So if you have a factory job I'd say you have some other cause. When I picked up my truck, that was one of the first things I checked. Absolutely no problems up top. Just the wheel hubs, crappy rust there.
