Supercharge your Screw
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Just wanted to post the results of a install of a powerdyne SC on a 2001 Supercrew. I read a lot of the posts on here about what brand to use. After acessing what i really wanted from my truck i chose the powerdyne. The reasons being this i only wanted the boost when i wanted to get down on it so to speak. Everyday driving i didnt care but when i wanted the HP i want a boat load. Also what i wanted was about 15 seconds worth of HP so i didnt think the aftercooler was a nessesity. 15 seconds worth will put a frown on a lot of people. So here is what happened. I ordered a Powerdyne from Ford motosports for 1995.00$ It arrived in about a week. I unboxed it and it looked great. I had read about other installs and i decided to have a shop pull the harmonic balancer and install the new one that comes with the kit along with the drive pulley. He also installed the new fan that comes with the kit. He charged me 75 dollars, and i thought that was a deal because i didnt own a puller and would have had to rent or borrow one.On the next day i proceded to install the kit and let me say everything went together perfect only one minor snag. The instructions were straight forward. Remove the old intake filter system. Insatll the monting plate for SC. Install the FMU hookup the gas lines. Insatll the new intake. install the filter assembly. Install belt tensioner with belt. And crank her up. Just 4 hurs later. The only problem was the bracket that holds the power steering resevior was rubbing the header, and was sending viberations thru the pedals and steering wheel. Just a little bend and all was clear.Took her out for a spin and WOW!!!! I was pleased. The next day i installed an Autometer and pod to see boost preasure, and was getting about 4.5 lbs of boost at WOT and she was shifting at 4900 Rpms. I decided to order an 9psi pulley and get my superchip custom burned to raise the shift point in order to get into the rpm range to take advantage of what the supercharger has to offer. When the ship came and the new pulley i installed thme and off to the races. She is now shifting at 5300 rpm at about 7psi and let me tell you this things Rips for a big heavy 4X4. I will tell you it would not spin the tires before the mods but now it will sQueel them from a dead stop it wont smoke them but its nice to hear them bark. It will also chirp them at WOT 1st to 2nd shift. I bought a Gtech Pro and it will run at the present in the low 15s with a best so far a 14.99 and a 91.131mph speed in the 1/4. I plan on a Catback of sometype soon, and after that i will do a Dyno run. And will maybe reburn the chip at that time to shift from 1st to 2nd at the peak HP rpms. Am also thinking about 4.10s to get into the rpms a little quicker from a dead stop. So far im am very pleased with the results and have put 4000 miles on with the SC. Its nice to be blown!!!!!!!!!!!Oh one more thing at cruising speed on the Interstate this thing will not shift out of OD where it used to on hills as you start uphills and open the throttle the boost just eases up to about 1.5 lbs and this thing just climbs so easy no downshifting like before. If any one wants more detalied info just let me know. Also Mike T knows his stuff and the service he gives is great. I can really see the diffrence with the superchip and the improved shifting performance.

Good Job converting your beast into a monster. I just hope you put some money aside to take care of those "Exhibition of Speed" and other speeding tickets you will eventually incurr.

$1995 sounds like a pretty sweet deal to me. www.powerdyne.com says they are $3173 and that is direct from the mfg...Of course that includes a K & N filter, a powerchip, larger fuel pump and a bypass valve. Maybe that explains the difference. Either way, $1995 is a helluva deal. I'm in!
