Post Transmission not shifting out of second

I have a 2001 SuperCrew 2WD 5.4L with approximately 1200 miles on it so far. I started my day, backed out of my driveway and then proceeded to work. I noticed that for the first ½ mile at 25 mph or less, my engine was running louder and over 2000 rpm. I also noticed that the transmission wasn’t shifting from second into third. The morning temperature was 65 F. I have always noticed the engine revs higher for less then a minute after it is started, but I have never had a shift problem.

It has only happened once. Maybe it’s just a one-time glitch.

Has anyone else experienced this?

Didn't have a problem with it 'sticking' in gear, mine was a shudder around 30 mph (idling in traffic). Had the orange transmission TSB sticker on the outside of the case. Ford replaced trans, driveshaft (new, off assembly line - not remanufactured). 2,100 miles. Drives like a different truck. Took about 6 days. Ford picked up my rent car.

Mine did something similar. I was getting on the highway and when i gave some gas it went into 1st, i was going about 20mph. When it was time for 2nd it just went on in 1st gear, i let off and coasted for about 100ft then tried to accelerate again and it shifted hard into second. No probs since.

I had a "no reverse problem" on mine about a month ago on cold mornings. It would take about 30 seconds to one minute to engage. I took it in to the dealer but there was no trouble found. Haven't had the problem lately. I do have a lumpy idle though.
I'm hoping its just breakin in..
