The radiator issue is only for those who got the Class III tow package or heavy duty electrical & cooling package (which is included in the tow package). If you didn't have one of these options (or the 7700 lb. option, which might get the correct radiator according to one post...), you should have a 1.02" radiator.

Question

Ok,

As for the radio issue/fix...Has Ford stated anything official? If there is a statement by ford stating the issue and fix. That would help a lot.

I tokk my truck to the dealership and they are replacing my radio only. They looked it up in some computer and saw that there is a replacement. As for the Radiator they still say I have the right one even though I have the towing package with the 1.02 radiator

Hey Red, What dealer are you using? Bought mine at Portsmouth Ford and am approaching my first oil change. Was going to approach the Service manager about the radiator issue and was wondering if you've already told me their response.

Question

braboin,

Do you know or can you find out what the part number is on your radiator? I would like to know what the part number is for the radiator on a screw without the tow package.

Can anyone tell me where the part number is on the radiator?

Thanks

I bought mine from granite ford in Rochester they didn't want to touch the Radiator thing. They are going to replace my radio. Please let me know if you have any luck with portsmouth ford on the radiator issue. I did call portsmouth ford and asked them if they heard any thing about the radiator and they said know. You have you go in and demand it be changed.

Redkona - have you checked out the Ford website at http://www.fordtraining.com/.
Print out the Source Book for you truck, take it to the Service Manager, and hit him upside the head (verbally) with it. Maybe he will see the error of his ways. Good Luck!

Thumbs up

Update: I just got off the phone with Dan Wiebold, the owner of Dan Wiebold Ford in Nampa, Idaho just outside Boise. He called to say my new radiator was in, a 2.02". I asked why not the 1.42" that is specified for the 2001? He said that when they tried to pull it up on the computer to place the order, the number did not show up...?!
Anyway I am scheduling today for replacement.

Dan also said he has not had any luck in contacting Ford about this situation. The dealers are still being left in the dark.

My hat is off to Dan Wiebold Ford for working with me to resolve this issue.

Good Luck out there...

I have been in contact with ford customer service on the issue with the radiator issue. I think that if more poeple were to call the following number and complain that we could cause ford to speak the dealerships about replacing the radiators without being a pain to us owners. The number is 1-800-392-3673(FORD). We should all give this a try to see if we can make a difference as a whole instead of one at a time. I have even told them I would get a lawyer if thats what it took it get the right radiator

ScrewKing - more than a month ago I e-mailed Portsmouth Ford (from their website) requesting an appointment to have the seat belt buckles checked, the AM/FM/CD replaced and to have "The Radaitor" checked (I have the 1.02"). Don Bergeron, the Service Manager, telephoned to confirm the appointment (Friday, April 13th) and to make sure he understood what the problems were.
So, Portsmouth is aware of the problems - what they will do about them is a different question.
I've had good luck with them in the past - the changed my bedliner (at no cost) from a cheap "Portsmouth Ford" one to a "Ford" Duraliner. And, the Service Department has improved greatly since my first visit. The Service Tech on my last oil change even left his business card with his e-mail address in the truck. Think he, at least, takes pride in what he does.
If you need or want details send me an e-mail at "swampview@budweiser.com"

The short version of the long story is this(after 3 weeks of agravation). Don't waste your time with the Ford Customer care people, they are politically correct idiots. Go back to your dealer and show them the information in the Ford Source book. Within 5 minutes of doing so the correct 1.42" rad(YL3Z-8005-GA) was ordered and installed within a week. If you are in Eastern Ontario contact Brian Turner(Service Manager), Hudson Ford, Brockville, Ont at 613-341-FORD. He knows of the problem NOW and should fix you up without any hassle. I'm sure he will know who gave you the heads up!

Howdy!

Redkona,

You don't have to prove anyone anything. Just go to your dealership and tell the service advisor (or "radio guy" (3rd party who does CD player replacement for several dealerships)) that you want the new fan-cooled CD player. They might give you a hard time but who cares. You paid for it so tell 'em "time to get moving chump!"

Mine is on order. Thanks everyone who posted on F150online.

Have a nice day.
