Post 17" wheels w/o ORP?

Well, I'm about ot order thru the xplan, courtesy of aviation club and I almost found one w/ all the options I wanted from a dealer who just happened to have one coming in. But...it had the 10 spoke rims/wheels. My question is, this truck did not have the ORP and I thought 17" was only avail. w/ the ORP. Anybody know if you can get the 17's w/o that waste of money ORP-package?

Soon to order a

Hey seldomseen,
If I remember correctly there are two options for 17", one with all season tires, the other with all terrain tires. The one thing I'm sure of is the one with the all terrain P265/70R X 17 and wheels is option code T5N ($289. invoice/$340 MSRP).

You also get 17 inch wheels as part of the "Sport" package. My wife and I both have the "Sport" package on our trucks and they both came with 276/60/17 tires...they are both 2WD

Unless they've changed something again, you can't get the 10-spoke 17" wheels any more. If the dealer has a truck with them, check the manufacture date and I'm guessing it'll be sometime before October, 2000. That's about when the true Off Road Package became available on the screw, and the 10-spoke was discontinued. It probably doesn't have rear seat head rests either.

As far as wether or not the Off Road Package is worth the money, that's entirely up to you and what you plan to do with your truck. If you plan to get taller tires, the concensus is to go with the 16" wheels and replace them with aftermarket wheels and tires. However, the package also has three skid plates, and heavy duty shocks to help when you do go off road. A sport package isn't offered for the screw.

My 4X4 SCrew has the 17" tires w/o the ORP. Mine was built last summer and therefore, lacks the Skid plates, leather-wrapped steering wheel, and headrests. I'd have preferred the ORP, but didn't know about the differences before I bought mine in November. Just a few more things to add to my list of future mods!

I had them fax over the cut sheet and the 2001 order date was 6/2000, why the heck is it coming in now???....I called ford directly and I guess 17" is only avail on xlt's if you get the ORP, which I think is a total waste of money for a cute little sticker on the back. I guess I'll go with the stock tires on the 5 spoke cast alum. and get some nice 265's later....Just got my PIN from EAA, now's its off to the dealer....
