My permanent fix for mud/water in taillights
I take my truck in the mud, so I have mud running out the bottom of the taillights constantly. I can never dry the back of the truck after a wash, because the mud and sand keeps running out. It has even scratched the paint were it comes out!
I just got my new Lighting taillights, when I took the old ones out, I couldn't believe that there was mud everywhere except for the actual bulb itself.
What on earth are all those stupid holes for around the light surround?!?!
SOLUTION: I got a can of Great Stuff polyurethane sealant foam from the hardware store and plugged up all the holes; after it dried into foam, I cut it off somewhat level, then put duct tape over that (overkill). After the new lights went in, I had to go under the truck and spray some more over the 2 gaps left where the plastic sliders from the light go into the truck.
I don't think anything can get in now!

the propane used to be a little cheaper than the gas, but i heard somewhere that propane was going to go up to around $2 a gallon. one dealership that was doing a lot of the conversions wouldn't do it on anything but their top of the line suburbans, tahoes, and trucks, most of which costing around $40,000, because the buyers were getting them for around $20,000 - AZ tax cuts/rebates. i don't know think any dealerships would do it on their less expensive vehicle, like the ones with 4.6L.
Femseadoo: where did they put your tanks ? in the box or underneath

Yeah, I have the same problem, and it is probably the most annoying aspect of my truck, which is to say, I am very happy so far.
I'll look at a similar solution myself. You have to be pretty gutsy to spray "Great Stuff" or whatever brand it is, near your truck. That stuff sticks to everything.
I'll also carried a ton of sand in the bed, and I continue to get sand coming out my tailgate, along with this grating sound when I open and close it. I am a little disappointed in the "work ethic" of this truck.
I didn't buy it to 4WD down Elm Street in the rain, I load it up with sand, rock, dirt, lumber ..., on southwest clay. Wish it was a little more work oriented.

Zacky, my tanks are where the spare is supposed to be. So now the spare is in the bed.
Brossman,
You're right, The Great Stuff is really "nasty stuff" but I waxed the area around the lights before going near the truck, and was just very careful not to get any on the truck. I had to put it on in layers, starting at the deges of the holes.
It doesn't come off of skin either, but mineral spirits help.
I would much prefer the Expedition tail lights without the weird curved area at the rear of our beds.
