Unhappy

I got my Screw a week ago, born on 10/00. I just looked at the wiring and found no cover at all - there are also 2 rubberbands hanging from the wire bundle. Wonder what those are for? I like the cover shown above - maybe I'll see about ordering one myself and I'll loose the rubbers too!

IslBlue - I only had one rubber band and no cover ;-). Question: Does your Duraliner cover the tie-down cleats or are there cut outs for them? Really would like the bedliner but still need a way to tie things down.

Silverstreaker - I have the bedliner on order - so can't answer that right now. I guess I forgot to ask those questions. I have seen other screws with bedliners, not sure if they were Duraliner or not, but they had cutouts for the tie downs. I am curious about the extend a cage set-up and if the bedliner has the necessary cutouts for that as well.

Thumbs up

silverstreaker,

I had the Ford Duraliner installed on my truck before I picked it up. They take the tie-downs off, install the liner, and then screw them back on. So there are no cut outs and you get a nice custom look. Hope this helps.

DANSCREW,

I'm embarassed to say that it is already dirty (snowing here in No. VA today). Will get it washed tomorrow and try to have pics for you by Thursday. I love the dark blue with the beige but the silver looks good too. Shoot they all look good.

I looked at all three of mine today:

1998 SuperCab has it
1999 Expedition has it
2001 SuperCrew does not have it

Went to the dealer today to show them the water in my tail lights again and to look for this cover. None of the Screws have on thier lot, they have about 20. We looked at the other trucks that did have a cover and it looked like the ones we looked at would not fit onto my Screw. We looked up the part numbers above and none of them came up with a match for the Screw.

My other question for them was what radiator was supposed to be on my truck with the tow package. I should have an answer by Thursday. The radiator on my truck is only one inch thick, others have said that it shoulb be atleast 1.4 inches or more. Any one else look into this?

Beachdive,

Off topic here. I am heading to Duck down your way this weekend. Can you drive on the beach other than Corolla and at Oregon inlet anywhere this time of year? Do I need that license? Looking forward to giving my crew a workout, esp. if the weather gets worse towards Monday. Hear it is supposed to be 70 on Friday.

BTW, I don't have that cover either. Does anyone with a crew actually have it or just on the supercabs?

born on date:7-00 no cover, WTF.

Hey CPAFAY, When I lived in Nags Head, all you need this time of year is a permit/sticker on the front windshield to drive on the beach. You can use all the access points up and down the beach road. Keep in mind it has been six years but I don't think that anything has changed. Have fun and let us know how it did on the beach, my last truck was a 1984 Nissan on 35's and never once got stuck.

cpafay,
Each town along the beach has different laws, so make sure you know what town you’re in. Here’s a summary of the beach driving laws from north to south:
Corolla - OK, No permit required except for ATVs
Duck - Not sure
Southern Shores - Not allowed
Kitty Hawk - They used to allow it, but I saw a sign last week that said "No beach driving allowed"
Kill Devil Hills - OK, No permit required
Nags Head - OK, $25 permit required available at Town Hall and local tackle shops.
Oregon Inlet - OK, No permit required but be careful NPS Ranger drives an unmarked F-150 with rod holders on the front.

Thanks Acapilot & Beachdive,

Will check it out tomorrow or saturday. Probably stick to the Corolla beaches.
Had my S crew at Oregon inlet on Labor day, did great but I did see an F150 stuck pretty bad that day as well (along with the usual Grand Cherokees with 36 psi in the tires that always seem to be stuck there.)
I have learned that it is much better to air-down before you get stuck (the hard way.)
