Any good tips on how to remove the front license plate bracket without ripping it off?

Thumbs up

T,

when i took my crew in for my first oil change, i wanted that thing off. the service tech offered me a swap, if i gave them all 5's on the satisfaction survey, they would remove it for no charge, it is worth a shot. other than that, search for an earlier thread, someone else was wondering the same thing, good luck.

Cool

That's what I did, but you need a pretty long drill bit. I happened to have one, so off it came!

I have done mine and a friends and here is how I did the second one. The bottom portion of the license plate is held in with some plastic Screws or push in jobies and those you will look at and have no problem gettting out. On the other hand, the top portion is in fact held by rivets. Don't waste time trying to drill out the rivets, a mistake I made the first time. Instead, get underneath the truck, and unscrew about 8 of the bolts holding the front valance in place. Once you remove those screws, the valance will hang down some, then use a sawzall to cut the two piece of plastic that hold the plate, somewhat close to the rivets, one on the left and one on the right. Put the bolts back into the valance and your done! Take it from somebody who did it once wrong, and did it a second time fast and clean.
