Red face Tires - Hydro-Planning

While driving home this evening, in the rain, I experienced a bit of hydro-planning and was supprised. I have the General P255/70R16's.

Has anybody else experienced hydro-planning.

IMO the Goodyear RT/S suck in the rain also. I'm looking to get some Cooper Discoverer's soon to replace them.

My BF/Goodwrinch's that came with the Lariat package, seem to do a fairly good job in the Rain. I am not saying they are the best, but I would guess they are better than the Generals..

The General's are not great but the Goodyear Wrangler AP's on my 98 F150 where even worse.
A lot of those tires are designed for smooth quiet highway ride. Very impressive on a test drive or on your first trip home from the dealer not so impresive for all weather handling. We would have killed ourselves last summer with the 98 F150 and Goodyears
had it not been for the trailer brakes. We where pulling our 31 foot trailer. I came over the crest of a hill in the rain and a truck was turning. I locked on the brakes and it was like being on ice. We started to jack knife and i had to let up on the brakes. I then locked on only the trailer brakes and with a big jerk we straightened slowed and avoided a collision. after that we stopped to clean out our drawers.

I got rid of those stock tires the day I picked up the truck. I've heard that they are dangerous in the rain. Look at the tire and wheel posts.
