Just filled up today for the first time. Got 16.1 MPG with about 50/50 split between highway and local.

I was expecting worse.

I'm happy...

My first 2500 miles were between 13-14 MPG. At 2500 I installed the K&N Gen II and it got a little better (14.5 MPG) and then at 3300 miles I installed the Gibson exhaust. Haven't filled since then but can tell that its gone up a little more. I expect that as I get a few more miles it will improve...at least I hope so!

Question

Ok guys, as you see below I have a 4X4 SCrew with a 5.4. I am averaging 13.7 in mixed driving. The best I have gotten in 7 tanks is 14.7 all highway. My question is for you who say your getting 18 on the highway with the same truck as mine. Is that all downhill or what? How can the mileage be so varied from one truck to another. And I am pretty easy on the gas. Just curious if I have a leak. Actually I am getting about what I expected.

Angry

You guys are making me feel bad. I get a pretty consistent 12.6 mpg mixed city and highway. Sometimes make into the 13's and happy when I do. Think I have pushed it and gotten 320 miles out of a tank before on a trip. That's it.

I am getting a constant 15 MPG, since new.
I've done the Gibson exhaust, snuglid, and have not improved any. I guess I will try the FIPK next.

Wink

I don't believe anyone with a 4X4 is getting over 16 miles to the gallon. If they are they are not checking it accurately. This truck in 4X4 with a 5.4 won't average over 15 MGP. My Opinion of course.

I am. 5.4L 4X4 Screw, getting 17.3mpg from Boulder Colorado to Durango Colorado, look at the map, there are a couple of hills between here and there.
Averaging about 70 mph, 87 octane, winter blend fuel, with no topper or lid.
I tend to get about 14 mpg around town.
Perhap you have the Beige on the wrong part of the truck, it must be more slipstream when it is on the top.
