Question Any Regrets So Far!!

Any of you supercrew owners have any regrets thus far! I mean is there anything you would have done different? If you could order another one, what differences would you make, whether it be a bigger motor, captain seats, a Lariat vs. XLT, anything at all, please list here. Thanx ahead of time.

Well, I have only had mine for about 2 months so far, but I love it. No regrets. I bought mine off the lot. I did not order it as I am way to impatient. I found one I really liked and bought it.

I have the XLT with captains chairs, they are the second generation seats with the headrest. I am not sure about the gen thing, but was told they are the newer style. I liked them better than the other highback style. Anyway back to the truck, I have the XLT 4X4 with the 5.4 engine, the disc changer and the side steps. Also the auto lamp system. I am very happy with my truck. I did not really want the leather, probably would have been nice. I did not want to pay for it though. I did not really like the side steps, but my wife is short and she said if we get a truck it has to have some sort of step. The only thing I would have probably added if I had ordered it would be the towing package. I will be adding a towing set up eventually. I do not tow much, but once in a while.

I just ordered an ARE Z series cap for mine and I think it adds a lot of class to the trucks.

I know some don't like the look of the cap on the truck, but for function I do like it. I have a three dogs and like to take them with me, but I do not let them ride free in the back, so I decided a topper was the way to go. I also plan on doing some camping and fishing and like the idea of being able to lock up stuff in a pretty secure area and if need be I could bunk in there for the night.

Anway the only thing I can think of that I would have added would be the tow package.

However if money were no object I guess I would go with the Lariat with all the bells and whistle and the off road package. And then add the supercharger and all the power changing add ons and then anything else I could think of.

But seriously I love the supercrew. It has been the best purchase I have made in a while. I had a 2000 gmc that had serious quality problems. It ran fine but there were many problem pop up. I have also had a 95 dodge truck that I don't know where to begin with the list of problems. So I think the supercrew is where its at.

Sorry to go on, but if you are looking at one I would go for it. I would buy one again for the wife if I could afford to.

Good luck on your quest for the truck

Paul

P.S. Don't read to much into all the people talking about this problem or that. I have had several new vehicles from many different manufacturers and all have had some problem or another. I think there are lemons and then there are small problems that may not seem so small to the owner of the vehicle. I Like my truck and will prbably keep it till the tires fall off.

I traded for a Lariat off the lot because I wanted to try leather, and it is nice, but I would probably have been just as satisfied with the XLT cloth. The other Lariat package "gadgets" are nice, but not really essential. One thing to be sure of is to get the power adjustable driver's seat. That thing is great! On any kind of a trip you can adjust it a million ways to keep comfy. And I would definitely go with the 5.4 engine. I got 16.9 mpg on my 3rd tank of gas with a mix of city/highway driving (no tire-smoking!). I bet I can get 18.5 highway. At the same time the power is available if you need it. One of the SCrews I test-drove was a 4.6 and it just didn't have it. I'm afraid I would be spending $$ on mods to make it more like the 5.4. Enjoy.

PGIO...I couldn't agree with you more!!!!

Every manufacture makes good ones and every manufacture makes bad ones....I have yet had any problems with mine (11,000km...knock on wood) and love the truck..it will be a keeper for many years to come.

I have yet met anyone with the perfect vehicle...seems like every vehicle owner can found something wrong or dislike something about their vehicle (BIG or small).

Different strokes for different folks!

Only two things so far I wish Ford did differently. Turn the fog lights on w/ parking lights, and give us a telescoping steerig wheel. I'm 6'-2", have the pedals all the way foward, and with the seat at a comfortable distance for my legs it seems that my arms are almost straight out to reach the wheel. And I wear a 37/38 shirt! Other than that cleaning the drool off this truck gets to be annoying!! Why can't people wear a drip cup?

None whatsover...I've been a chevy truck driver for 15 years. Best truck I've ever owned. I have had it for almost a year 15,000 miles and solid...no rattles at all. My chevy's always had rattles and squeeks...drove me crazy! Chevy's have better pony's, but Ford has better workmanship. Switched to Ford last year from a 6 month nightmare lemon...I am one happy dude!

ScrewKing, I agree that a telescoping steering wheel would be nice. I, too, am 6'2"" with a long body. With everything comfortable for the lower half of the body the upper half has to reach to get to the steering wheel. I had to drive the mini-van, Dodge flavor, last night and noticed the same thing. The only vehicle I was ever really comfortable in was my '92 Ranger, although, I only had about 3/4' between the top of my head and the roof.

Speaking about the better ponies in the Chevy's, when I went to by my Ranger I looked at the S-10 and heard a lot of things about tht 4.0L V6 chewing up transmissions. It seems that in order to entice people to buy the Chevy's they had to provide a bigger engine to overcome the appeal of the Fords and this resulted in over-powering the drive-train. Dodge, on the other hand, has a problem with providing fewer ponies mated to a drivetrain, transmission, that can't even handle the lower ponies.

Screwking:

Drove mine home last night (long 2 month wait) and that was the first thing I noticed...reaching for wheel. Don't seem to remeber that during test drive?!?

Other than that it seems to be perfect. Gonna take her for a long drove today.

So far she's a '10'.

I've had mine for 7 months and put 12k miles so far. I like it a lot. The only two things that I don't like one is wind noise... don't take it the wrong way as I'm very hard to please on this one and two is lack of an indicator for low washer fluid

Everything else is great. Look Ford (hehe) to driving this truck for a number of years (150k-200k miles)

My only regret is that i didnt order a moonroof. It was a nice sunny day yesterday and I was in my wifes car with the moonroof open and said to myself, damn why didnt I get one of these..but then again, maybe the TV wouldnt fit up on the ceiling if there was a moonroof... awww heck.. guess I like the truck just fine..

Correct me if I am wrong here guys....but there is not a 4x4 or 2wd truck on the road that rides as good as the Supercrew.

I have taken long road trips in buddies Dodge's, GMC's and they do not ride as well.

Took a 900km trip in buddies 1999 Dodge 1/2 ton 4x4 and felt every little bump in the road....can you say sore neck.

The ride of a Supercrew is second to none!

I agree about the reach for the steering wheel...The telescoping idea is a great one! I'm 6'1" and have long arms, long legs but still have to extend arm full length to rest my wrist on the top of the steering wheel. The only other thing I would change is a glossy clearcoat or paint surface that can't be scratched or chipped by rocks..HAHA..I know I'm dreaming there..All and all I'm still rolling down the road everyday with a big smile on my face. Awesome truck!

18k miles and no regrets at all. The ride even gets better with stiffer tires.

When I decided to shop for a truck last September, I had never owned a pickup before and didn't have any preconceived ideas about what I wanted. When I told my cubicle mate at work I was in the market for a truck, he told me that he was happy with his F-150, but that whatever I did, I better not buy one of those four door Fords, because he would be green with envy. I did, and he is!!! I still rub it in, and he is still jealous.

Seriously, this is a great vehicle. Everyone in my family loves it. Even my 18 year old son, who drives a Chevy, admits it's a pretty cool ride.

My only regret was not checking out this board before I bought. I wish I'd known about the generational differences. Mine's a Gen I, and I'm missing skid plates (now part of the Offroad Pkg that wasn't available then). I don't have a leather-wrapped wheel, nor do the back seats have headrests. I also had the dealer install Keyless Entry because it was advertised as standard. So, just ask for the Gen III or lots o' money off. Otherwise, I'm in love!
