Angry Skidplates

Ok, everyone with the Tow Package go out and climb underneath your truck. I checked this weekend the front skidplate was missing on mine. I also have the wrong radiator. I E-mailed the dealer today, it should be interesting to see what happens.

Take a deep breath Bud. The tow package doesn't come w/skids. The ORP does or you can order them seperate.

cavecrew,

As ScrewKing mentioned, the skidplates come with the Off Road Package. I believe they cost around $250 to $300 for the set. The Tow package consists a Class 3 hitch receiver, Heavy Duty cooling package, HD suspension, HD electrical, and electrical wire harness.

I ran into an interesting debate with my dealer in regards to the radiator issue. They stated the HD cooling is for the HD transmission cooler, which I do have. I'm not planning on doing any heavy hauling, but I expected a HD radiator so I'm going to keep pressing this issue with them. Goodluck.

The skidplates have nothing to do with the Lariats. If you have the ORP, you should have three skid plates. One for the front crossmember, one covering the fuel tank, and one for your transfer case. Be sure to check since some folks found one or so plates missing from the factory.

I got the ORP and it looks like the skid plate is missing at the transfer case. It's supposed to cover the whole pumpkin, right? I don't see anything there.

Actually, it's a generation thing. My SCrew, as a 2001, was advertised to come standard with Keyless Entry. However, it was built in July 2000 (Gen I) and didn't have KE. Same deal with the skidplates. The Offroad pckg wasn't available on the Gen Is, each piece was separate. So, mine came with 5.4L, 17" tires, Class III towing, but no skidplates. The dealer then installed the aftermarket KE at no cost for me. But I was dissapointed to find out about the differences. If I'd known, I'd have waited. I don't have a leather-wrapped steering wheel either. Come summer, that's gonna suck. Anyway, that's my gripe, and my experience. I'll be checking my radiator when I get home tonight!

My Gen I came w/ ORP. At least it said so. It could be just Skids though since the Screws were being sold so quickly, they'd probably take a shortcut where they could.

I went to my dealer Thur. and I do have the front skidplate. I couldn't see it from the side underneath the truck. You had to look at it from underneath the front it angles down away from the bumper. It's not as big a as I thought it would be, but at least it's there.
However, they confirmaed I had the wrong radiator and are contacting ford.
Dealer started telling me I had 48 hours to claim a misbuild. I knew from other post this wasn't going to fly. I was kind of disapointed in the dealers first approach and expected better. I'll just have to wait and see what happens. Suppose to hear something next week.
Good luck, everyone.
