SCREWKING,
The "King Ranch ", huh ?? Nice truck I just sat in one @ my dealer the other day- pretty sweet. My salesman and i both decided that the consol between the back seats needs to be a cooler!!!
Also I can't believe that they don't offer the trip computer in that truck ( like the one in the 350) in fact they should offer it in ALL the XLT's AND LARIAT trimmed versions.
Getting back to your question I think that is THE LID for your truck. The hinge system is the best I've seen . Very slick. Two 12" extruded aluminum L brackets are all that attatch to the bedrails, the the Stainless scissor hinges are attatched to the lid , they seat onto the L brackets and you srcew a knurled **** thru the botom of the bracket into the scissor hinge on each side and THAT"S IT.
I would only get the X-2000 (Platinum Series they call it) not the Standard ******* lid.
I would only get it without the trim and with the caps for the locks. It comes carpeted on the underside. I got black ,since the Line-x is also. It also comes with a video which helps a little.
One caveat is that on my truck the bedrail on one side is not 90 degrees where it's folded over so the L bracket is not level on that side so we had to torque and muscle the hinge to mate . It's ok and works fine but in the spring I'm gonna take it off and try to beat it in so it mates easily and should then take all of 20 seconds to put on and take off.
The finish is a very good match, and esthetically I like it alot more than the ARE- but I did from the start anyway.
the 2 locks are a bit of a pain in the butt - but I'm in the city most of the time so I'm always puttin stuff in and out and having to lock it .
hope that helps.

WT, Appreciate all the info on the X-2000, I think it's the one I'm going for. I like the looks of the A.R.E LS11 and the Snuglid as well. It's the fact that there is no frame other than the "L" bracket you mention that I like the most. Saw an A.R.E. LS11 in person on a KRE and it looked nice except for that big ugly handle on the rear of it. As far as Snuglid is concerned i've tried getting info on a dealer or any place in N.E. to see one in person and after three letters to them w/no help I don't trust them for customer service.
That's the first thing my wife said the first time she was in the back seat (I mean about the center console) should be a fridge!
Even my buddy's Dodge Lamb has a trip computer! What do you want for 33K?

Screwking,
FYI after much insecurity and putzin' around I bit the bullet and had to order direct --sight unseen--and have it shipped to my house.
I opened the box and looked at every SQ. inch. Lucky for me the roadway driver had a 2000 XLT supercab so he was real interested in gettin the box open too. He probably ordered one himself after seein' mine !!
I looked at every variety of lid that was within 100 miles of me and this one is by
the best.
With re: to the customer service it depends on who you get- I got a couple of really smug people and a couple good ones . I think that since they're a pretty well known custom hot rod shop, some of the young guys are pretty full of themselves just cause they work there.
The few glitches I had during the install were dealt with coscientiously, promptly, and professionally. But you gotta pull your weight and do your homework 1st.-- they're not real big on hand holding.
With mine the color is a great match but the metal flake is MUCH finer than the factory stuff .(I'm probably the only one that sees it)
--I don't know how you can help that. maybe mention it when you order.
Good luck. I'll keep tryin to get some pictures up asap.

WT, Talked to ******** and was quoted a price of $992.00 plus $160.00 for shipping!! Ouch!!! Problem is their closest dealer to us is in Virginia. Kinda worried, when I talked to "Lance" at *******'s, he didn't know where "New England" was. Asked if it was a state!!! Told him it was a six state area in the North East corner of our wonderful country, he told me he had flunked geography!! But, what I did find out from him is that the lid curved around at the front to follow the lines of the bed at the cab. Is this true? He also said that the lid lifted about an inch before it tilted for clearance at the front. Is that true? This sounds like it might have actually been given quite a bit of trial and error engineering. Let me know your opinions. Thanks
