Post Ford Quality

I am a Chevy owner currently and wanting a Screw because of its space and versatility. But the more I read here, the more I think I want to keep the Chevy. Seems like Ford's "Quality is job 1" ad's aren't quite so. From what I read the Screw's have transmission problems, wrong radiators if you ordered the tow package, wandering problems, paint problems and on. My Chevy has been very dependable and the reason I went to Chevy was due to the poor quality and dependability of Ford's. I don't have time to continue to take my new truck to the dealer for service. I want it in my garage when I need it. At least the Chevy with 175,000 miles is still dependable and trustworthy. Not sure I want to take a 30,000 plunge for a product that seems to need more TLC.

I don't mean to make anyone mad who already owns these trucks. I think the trucks are awesome.

Just not sure I trust Ford for the same reasons I left Ford and Dodge to begin with.

RickC-

Any message board is going to post dirty laundry! I have posted frequently regarding the wrong radiator issue, but I will tell you that I love my Supercrew. It drives great, looks great, and fits my need 100%. I am just trying to get to the bottom of a situation where the factory may have made a mistake and not put the part on that it was supposed to. Has it currently affected my vehicle performance? Nope!

As a matter of fact, I just got my Consumers Report yesterday that only recommended 2 full-size pickups. One was the Toyota Tundra and the other was, yep, you guessed it, the Ford F-150! Now tell me, which one dominates in the interior space department!

I would be willing to bet that most of the folks on here love their S'Crews! Unfortunately, it gets a little boring slapping each other on the back all the time talking about how great our vehicles are , so we also discuss other things as well!

My advice: Take one for a test drive! You'll love it!

I understand everyone loves the truck. I read those posts too. Heck, I love the truck and don't even have one yet. Just a little worrisome about the future trips to the service depts. I HATE that.

:-)

Also, I am afraid to go drive one. I know I would buy it on the spot. Having trouble locating the one I want actually. I did find it, just don't deal with that dealer. I can't decide if I want to go to another dealer and ask them to trade for it. I know I can get the truck for invoice at one dealer, he already offered me one. It just wasn't the color I want.

RickC, I just traded my Chevy for a Screw (my first new Ford) and while I do like the truck, I'm having vibration problems which I'm not sure the dealer can fix. Also, the transmission shifts poorly for a truck (see clunk and soft shifting)so, like yourself I'm really concerned about long term durability of this truck.

I have owned two F150 trucks (Ext cabs) and now an F150 Supercrew and have NEVER had any of them in the shop for anything. I think the trucks are bullet proff. Yes, some trucks of all make and model are going to have an issue or two and with that we all take a risk. There's vehicles of all types that are built on Friday at 4:45P. However, these supercrews along with all FORD trucks I have ever owned have been rock solid. I am just as suprised to hear some of the issues that I hear on this site because I dont have any of those problems. But again, thats 10 - 20 something people that I have heard those negitive comments from. How many trucks come off the line in an hour? Go ahead and drive one, I dare ya. These trucks are incredible. There's nothing else that compares to the Screw!

I understand your post and your concern but I do not believe you will be sorry.

Hey Rick, If you are or were a die-hard Bow-Tie fan like me, let me tell Ya a few things about you probable "BLUE OVAL" transistion. This is the first New Ford I have owned and I love it! As far as the radiator problem I would be willing to bet not one of the Screws with the "Wrong Radiator" installed including mine will run hot this summer! (Sans Failure). Granted if we are supposed to get the BIG CORE like I saw in my Friends 01 EXPY then we have a right to some explanation or compensation. My 95 Tahoe was a nice ride, If it hadn't been for the extended warranty I would have been out big bucks for transmission, AC, and Elect. Problems. The Screw is the Quietist best riding Truck I have ever ridden in. After You get your truck a good way to break the "Bow Tie" ties is to go to Wal Mart and buy a blue oval Ford Reciever Hitch insert!

Wow the only problems I have had with my Screw is the paint, and the dealership fu*cked that up. Also it seems to me the only one's bit*hing about transmission problems are the one's with the 5.4 engine. After 8,000 miles I have had not problems with my 4.6L auto trans.

I too have never owned anything but a Ford when it comes to trucks. I have never had any major problems other than the normal wear and tear. Like the other poster said, some trucks (out of all the thousands that Ford builds each year) will have problems (that's inevitable) and if you get one, there are always avenues to fix the problem. I drive Ford for a number of reasons. The main one is : reliabilty. These really are made TOUGH like the ad says. Also, Ford dominates in style and comfort in my opinion. They continue to innovate and stay one mile ahead of the competition. I'm 36 and this is my 4th Ford truck and is my favorite and the best F150 (IMO) that Ford has made to date. No comparison to Chevy, Dodge or Toyota. I can't even think of whats next for Ford. Other than more power (and my 5.4 has plenty) and comfort (and the leather interior is the best and most comfortable I've ever seen or been in), how can Ford design anything better than the Ford SuperCrew? I'm sure they will, but it's hard to imagine. I've owned my SCrew for a WHOLE week now and have to tell you it's even better now than when I first drove it away from the dealers lot. This truck is truly a pleasure to own and drive!!!

Thumbs up

RickC

A BIG PLUS for Ford is this web site. Where else would you have access to this much information and helpful advice. If you have problems you have a worldwide support group willing and eager to help you resolve your problem. There are even Ford technicians that post here. If any other truck has a site like this, I've not seen it yet.

I come from a long line of Ford owners. Sure we encounterd some lemons over the years, but for the most part we got a good quality product. I use my SCREW mostly like a car, but have friends and relatives that use their trucks as WORK trucks and swear by Ford.

So. NH Screw, your right! This site is awesome. I have learned more about these trucks here than anywhere else.

JonC, someone has to give the ugly girls something to do and besides, if you go with the ugly ones, no one is always trying to take them away.

:-)
