Here's my $0.02,
I driven & had both chev's & ford's.
They both have been good but each has had it's problem's.When I go to but my next truck (2-3 yrs.)I would have no problem's buying another screw.I love the truck ! Perfect combo for me.no problem's so far 8,000 mile's.I would however like to see Ford add a few option's to the screw like a 7700# Heavy duty service package and optional 3.73 gear ratio's.
Buy it you won't be sorry!!!

JON C. - love the rim's on your ride!look's sharp.

Fallscrew,

Thanks for the compliment! How are things in Wisconsin? Grew up in Upper Michigan so I'd bet your still shovelling there?

I've got a question for you Supercrew owners... how do you all like those 60/40 split bench seats? I saw the inside of a screw for the first time this morning and really like 'em! I'm wondering if they would fit in a plain old extended cab like mine... really like the adjustable headrests and side bolsters. Much superior to the 60/40 in my truck!

and on an earlier subject, remember this... if you're going to go ugly, go ugly early!

Think about it...

Thumbs up

JonC,
...I've got the front bench (Gen III) and it is awesome !!....I had the bench in my 99 SC and it was good...(I actually thought I was going to like the old bench better)...But now that I have this....I think it's more comfortable than the captains chairs....It's like backets with the added room for your legs (Or wide @#$!)...If you don't need the center console I think it's the better choice...But everyone has different likes and dislikes so whatever makes you happy personally is the right choice ....

Talking

I'm a first time Ford truck owner, have always bought high-end sedans, so still hoping my new SCrew will provide the dependablity I have become accustomed after owning mostly foreign built vehicles.

One thing for sure...Ford trucks are hands-down better quality vehicles than GM's and Chryler's. This statement comes after speaking to several friends who've owned all, and a close friend who owns an engine and transmission re-build shop. His business has been steady due to GM transmission failures, Chrysler engine woes, along with a fair amount of difficulty from the 3.8 liter Ford engine. But very seldom a Ford truck.

Keep in mind "Any investment involves risk" I have owned a Chevy truck and let me say it had its problems too. New tranny at 30K, bad dash electronics at 36K, rearend noise that NEVER seemed to be fixable and a few other minor things also.

When I traded it in on my F-150, I knew I was making a good decision. Yeah, I have had mine to the dealer a couple times for minor things, but they seem to be MUCH more minor than the things my Chevy had. I have 27K on my 1999 and I love it to death.

Every vehicle has its problems, thats a fact!

RickC...I just got my new Screw last week and absolutely love it. I have owned Toyotas for 22 years, have two now and will keep them because of their quality. While the Tundra is a good truck, it does not meet my needs for versatility, roominess for 6 and power.

The Supercrew is the best D**N looking truck on the road! Chevy has been behind in the development of their truck for several years. Before I bought my Screw I called my brother-in-law who is the service manager for a Chevy dealership. I asked him to convince me why I should buy a Chevy in lieu of the Ford. Obviously he couldn't do it.

I'm sure we could all tell a story of a bad experience with a vehicle. The fact of the matter is Ford has a great truck here, and they would be foolish to build anything of lesser quality and jeopardize their lead in the truck market for this vehicle.

Good luck with your decision. My $.02 worth.

I've had my SuperCrew for almost a year, have kicked the !@#%@#!# out of it, and it has only had minor problems that have needed fixing under warranty. Yeah, I think Ford could do a better job, not cut corners, etc...At least statistically, Ford F-150s have needed less repairs than Chevy or Dodge 1/2 tons. Of course, that doesn't mean much to you when you are one of the statistics.

People over at tundrasolutions.com are complaining about their Tundras too (some of the problems are so like the F-150s it is eerie.)

This is a great site - but it can scare people. But it is like medicine - the more you know, the more you diagnose, the more things you are going to catch early and know about.

People on this site are a self selected group of aficionados who really care about their trucks. They are going to find out about problems that others would never know about.

I've had my SuperCrew for nine months and had no major problems. No radiator switches, no tranny problems or no door cracks. Hands down, it's been the best truck I've ever owned. I am very happy I made the decision to purchase and eagerly anticipate each new mod. The whole idea of a message board is to air questions, problems and complaints. Some are unfounded and misinterpreted. However. very few of those posting would trade their ride nor change their decision to purchase. IMO most problems are created by the dealers rather than FORD itself.

Yes, your right. Most problems are probably caused by the dealer. I am starting to worry about the radiator issue however. They are supposed to be putting larger radiator's in the truck's with towing packages, and apparently are not. This sounds like a corporate problem to me. Seems to me that Ford needs to stand behind what the brochure says and the specs say and replace the owners radiators. I think I will keep the Chevy a while longer. It's still going strong with no problems or concern's. That's after 175,000 miles, and still getting 16 mpg in the city on a full size extended cab. Not sure I trust Ford yet.

I thought that some of you would find this article about quality from the Wall Street Journal interesting!

Cool

I have had my SCrew for 5 months, and it has been flawless. 3 oil changes and a tire rotation so far. If it holds up like it has so far, it will turn out to be the single best investment I ever made.

Try it - if it fits your specific needs in a vehicle, you'll like it!

Great info RPFB!
Personally, I think all vehicles today will last a long time if you take care of them. I change my oil every 3000 using Valvoline durablend, which is a mix between conventional and synthetic oil. I have owned them all, really, and the biggest difference is the name on the side. I just worry about a company not standing behind their products as advertised. I am talking about the radiator issue. I would rather buy an American car however, because the parts for foreign cars are so expensive.

Thanks again for the pointer to the article. Funny thing about it, my parents have always been big Toyota fans, but both have had numerous issues with theirs. They have had Camry's, Tercels', and 4wd trucks. All of them spent a lot of time in the shops, with serious bills when picking them up.
