Got it!
Picked up my new King Ranch tonight from AutoFair Ford in Manchester, NH, who priced it out at invoice after the rebate over the web. Trouble free operation too, in and out in a couple hours including financing, I highly recommend them. (Unlike Huntington Beach Ford!)
One possible problem though, seems like I may have some variation on the tranny thunk problem (see https://www.f150online.com/f150board...00819.html)... Hmmm...
What a beautiful truck though. Looks, feels, and rides great, great power (though I'm being gentle obviously), the perfect combination vehicle... soft on the inside, tough and utilitarian but still beautiful on the outside... what a good idea...

I had considered the KR but never could find one to look at (unlike the Harley Edition which were everywhere) and didn't want to order sight unseen. Some salesmen didn't even seem know what I was talking about. Sounds like they're starting to show up at the dealers. Guess I'll have to go look at one.
I'm curious, in the photos the leather on the seats looks to be heavier (thicker?)than the STD Lariat leather. Do you think this the case or is is just darker?
What is the base invoice on the KR?
------------------
Gen III Lariat, 5.4L, 4X4, Oxford White/AZ Beige, Beige leather bench seats, Ford Steps, Sliding RW, 3.55 LS
Added - WeatherTech window covers, Omni bug deflector, DrawTite Class III hitch, Husky Rear molded flaps, Custom rubber bed mat, SportMasters hinged vinyl tonneau

Yeah, a couple of the dealers in the Boston area didn't even know what I was talking about (literally had never heard of one - don't they read their own brochures?), and it seems like most of them had never seen one. Even a couple of the dealers in L.A. hadn't actually gotten any, although at least two had gotten 2WDs but no 4WDs. Apparently they're available though, especially down south - someone referred me to Sheehy Ford in the DC area, and they were preparing to get one for me from another local (VA) dealer, for $200 over invoice.
The leather is very much nicer than the standard Lariat leather - softer and seems thicker. IMHO, it's as nice or nicer than the leather in my dad's Jag. :-) The seats are also heated standard. (It's only got one heat setting though - I think the regular heated seats have high and low settings?)
The dealer said the invoice on the vehicle I got was $33,245 (although the invoice and cancelled check I actually saw looked like it was $33126, and then had some fees tacked on). That included:
Off-road Group
Class III Trailer Towing Group
Moonroof
5.4
Limited Slip
Cargo Cage
I spoke to the dealer this morning and my salesperson thought the tranny think might just have been the cargo cage bouncing around, or snow in the bed, but I don't think so. Maybe I'm just paranoid though, we'll see, and in any case I love it!

JimWright,
I'm sure others as well as myself would love to see some pictures. If and when you get a chance, please post some if you would.
Regarding the tranny clunk, try this test: cruise at about 20mph, then let off the pedal for a little bit to ~15,16mph, then accelerate normally. If you have the clunk, you should feel it, and maybe even hear it (radio off). I feel it mainly when I'm rounding (coasting thru) a street corner, then accelerate. It bugs the **** out of me. The dealer said it's inherant of the vehicle. I'm not satisfied. I'm contacting customer service to file a formal complaint.
Good Luck with an Awesome truck.

The leather in the KR is definatly a lot thicker than the lariat.

Hmmmm. Well, I drove it around for a little while just now, and I don't think it's the tranny bug.
At 1-2mph, giving it just enough gas to not stop completely, it sort of jerks back and forth, almost like it has a warped brake rotor or rotors or the brakes are a little too tight. Is this a common behavior? Sometimes it doesn't roll away from a stop when I let off the brake - I have to give it a little gas, and then it takes off with a little jerk. Sound familiar to anyone?
