I was the one who posted the problem with both the front bottom seat cushion springs. On my vehicle, the springs actually came poking through the cloth and scratched the back of my thigh. The dealer fixed both seats (took them two full days, they wanted three but I refused)and the problem has not returned. The problem is that there is a support wire that goes from side to side molded into the seat foam. It is not attached to anything except the foam itself. After a while the wire tends to lift off from its sides and actually start turning up. Both the service manager and myself thought this was a very poor design. What my dealer ended up doing was putting plastic caps on the ends of the wire then bending them down into the seat. What I have done is buy some heavy duty seat covers and side bars to ease the stress off the side of the seats from getting in and out. After going through all this, imagine how disgruntled I was after seeing a mid year seat change!

I too had the wire through the seat problem. The dealer I went to replaced the seat frame, foam (with the offending wire in it), and the seat cover. No problems now.

Question Problem with cloth captain's chairs

About two months ago, there were a number of postings regarding captain's chairs and how quickly they wore out. After two months, my driver's seat is shot. It has lost all lateral support (not that it had much to begin with!) and I can feel the support wires (springs?) through the seat cushion.

Has anyone tried to address this with their dealer? If so, what was the outcome?
